Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to engineering quality, smooth performance, and a generally trouble-free ownership experience, which are all encouraging signs if you want something you can count on. That said, used luxury SUVs can carry higher repair and maintenance exposure over time, so you should pay close attention to service history and overall condition before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially for suspension, electronics, and signs of uneven wear. Because this is a luxury SUV with family-hauling duties, focus on how well the interior, third row, and cargo area have been maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $17,681, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The current average of $17,695 sits slightly below last year's $19,484.

That kind of price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For you as a seller later on, that means your biggest advantage will likely come from choosing a clean, well-maintained example with strong documentation. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you should still compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.
