Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

Yes — the 4.61/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its impressive power, comfort, and engineering quality, and they also highlight its smooth, powerful performance and stylish design. For you, that makes it a compelling choice if you want a large three-row luxury SUV with a premium feel and family-friendly practicality. With 36.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value to be found if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.61/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels well engineered, dependable in daily use, and satisfying over time, especially if you value comfort and strong performance. That said, used luxury SUVs can carry higher ownership risk if maintenance has been deferred, so you should pay close attention to service history and overall condition before buying.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on bodywork quality, signs of prior collision repair, and the condition of major comfort and convenience features. Because this is a large luxury SUV, you should also pay close attention to how well the cabin, suspension, and electronics have aged.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 703 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,031, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The current average of $18,033 sits slightly below last year's $19,793.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and maintain it well, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell. The current market also shows that buyers still respond to this SUV’s luxury appeal and three-row practicality.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.61/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.61/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value and owner satisfaction, the 2017 is the primary year to focus on, especially because prices have eased and there is still a meaningful pool of listings to compare. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can widen your search to nearby years, but the 2017 remains a sensible starting point when you want a well-regarded luxury SUV with a softer market price.
