How much does the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 1.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 279 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and condition.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Generally — the 4/5 user rating suggests you’re looking at a model year that satisfies many shoppers who want a luxury SUV with real off-road ability and a commanding presence. The overview also points to a vehicle that blends military-rooted toughness with unmistakable luxury, while remaining expensive and image-driven as much as capability-driven. For you, that means it makes the most sense if you value character, status, and serious trail hardware over practicality or bargain pricing. 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes the 2017 G-Class as generally very reliable, but it also makes clear that it is expensive to maintain and repair. That combination matters for used buyers because even a dependable luxury SUV can become costly if prior upkeep has been deferred. If you buy one, your biggest long-term ownership risk is not just whether it runs well today, but whether it has been maintained consistently enough to avoid expensive repair surprises later.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was cosmetic or structural. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on maintenance records, signs of off-road use, and the condition of expensive wear items. Because this model is costly to maintain, you’ll want to pay close attention to overall condition rather than just mileage or appearance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 279 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $80,823, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $83,551 sits slightly below last year's $84,407.

That small decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy with less risk of overpaying. For a future seller, it also means resale value is likely to depend heavily on condition, maintenance history, and how well the vehicle has been preserved. Because this model has strong enthusiast appeal and a distinctive identity, clean examples should continue to attract attention even if the broader market softens.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the classic G-Class experience with strong owner satisfaction and a market that has softened a bit, the 2017 is a sensible target. If your priority is stretching your budget, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
