## Why it stands out
The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is designed to appeal to buyers looking for a compact SUV that combines style with a spirited driving experience. This model year showcases a distinctive Kodo design language that enhances its visual appeal compared to competitors like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, which may seem more utilitarian. The interior is equally impressive, featuring a clean, modern cockpit designed with a focus on usability, although it lacks Android Auto or Apple CarPlay support—features that many buyers might expect.
Under the hood, the CX-5 is powered by a robust 2.5-liter engine that delivers 187 horsepower, combined with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission. This makes for engaging driving dynamics, especially with its well-tuned cornering and stability systems. Despite being a top contender in the segment, potential buyers should note that rear-seat space and overall cargo capacity are somewhat limited, which could deter those needing extensive versatility.

(33 reviews)great car. safe with best features for the price...modern and great gas mileage
Looks great, drives wonderfully. The price point for this compact SUV is competitive, and the reliability rating for Mazda is excellent.
Oh my goodness do I love this vehicle. The smooth drive. The fuel economy. The comfortable seats! It handles so well. I just love love love it. I wish the back cargo space was just a little bigger to fit a large wheelchair size stroller but I just fold down half of the back seat.
Awesome Crossover Best Bang for Buck Excellent Foreign Alternative Very Reliable and Fun to Drive Efficient and Sporty Looks Amazing for the Money Spent!
The features this car does NOT have would fill a very short list. The jump from the Touring to the Grand Touring trim level is a bit pricey, but worth it. Heads-up display with blind spot monitoring, lane departure, radar cruise, powered tailgate, heated side mirrors and steering wheel, and a great Bose sound system. I highly recommend the Grand Touring CX-5.
