Owners consistently praise its luxurious features, smooth ride, and spacious interior, and they also like its stylish design and strong value compared with other luxury options. The market also shows 29.4% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive buys if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Lincoln Continental reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels luxurious, smooth, and spacious, with many drivers describing it as a strong value and appreciating its stylish design and performance. That kind of praise usually tracks with a dependable ownership experience when the car is maintained well. The expert evaluation also describes it as a true Lincoln for long highway drives, with a soft, controlled ride that supports relaxed daily use.

Lincoln also notes concierge service for dealer servicing and Black Label perks, which can make ownership feel easier if you stay on top of maintenance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core character of the car and more about whether the specific example has been cared for properly, especially given the cost of options and repairs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lincoln Continental?

At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in any prior collision. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, interior wear, and whether the luxury features work as intended. Because this model can be optioned heavily, it is worth checking that the equipment on the car matches the listing and that everything functions properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The top Black Label trim gets the best interior treatment, while lesser versions can feel less special inside and some materials are described as disappointing.
• Powertrain: Three V6 engines are available: a 3.7-liter with 305 horsepower, a turbocharged 2.7-liter with 335 horsepower, and a 3.0-liter twin-turbo with 400 horsepower; front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional on all trims except the twin-turbo setup, which comes only with AWD.
• Safety package: The Technology Package includes lane-keep assist, auto braking, pedestrian detection, automatic parallel and perpendicular parking, a head-up display, and adaptive cruise control. There is no semi-autonomous low-speed traffic self-steering feature.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 is fast and intuitive, and the available tech package adds a head-up display and driver aids; the text does not specify wireless smartphone integration or over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The available performance text does not provide MPG or MPGe figures.

Which 2017 Lincoln Continental trim should I buy?

The 2017 Lincoln Continental is offered in 3 trim levels: Premiere, Reserve, and Black Label.

Here's the short version:

• Premiere: This is the entry point, but the available content suggests you may want to shop carefully because the Continental’s nicer interior treatment and richer feel are more apparent as you move up the range.
• Reserve: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it balances the Continental’s luxury mission with a more attainable price point, while still giving you access to the car’s core strengths.
• Black Label: Choose this if you want the most upscale cabin and the richest presentation; the content specifically says you’ll need the top Black Label trim to get the best interior treatment.

The safety content notes that the Continental includes optional inflatable seat belts for rear passengers, and the available driver-assistance features are part of the Technology Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Lincoln Continental?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can find value if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 163 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.43% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 64.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,866, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Lincoln Continental's resale value?

The current average of $17,950 sits slightly above last year's $17,697.

That modest increase suggests the Continental has held value reasonably well in the near term, even if it is still a luxury sedan with a narrower audience than mainstream models. For a future seller, that means pricing discipline matters: well-kept examples should remain competitive, but overpriced listings may sit longer because shoppers have plenty of alternatives in this segment. The fact that the average price is still within a relatively tight year-round band also points to a market that is stable rather than volatile.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Lincoln Continental safe?

The 2017 Lincoln Continental has not been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Technology Package includes lane-keep assist, auto braking, pedestrian detection, automatic parallel and perpendicular parking, a head-up display, and adaptive cruise control. The safety content also mentions optional inflatable seat belts for rear passengers. One caveat is that the car does not offer a semi-autonomous low-speed traffic self-steering feature, which is a notable omission for a flagship luxury sedan.

Should I buy a 2017 Lincoln Continental or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.43% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Lincoln positions this year as a critical flagship return, with the Continental serving as one of the brand’s most important chances to reestablish itself.

The bottom line: The 2017 Continental makes the most sense if you want Lincoln’s flagship styling, a smooth ride, and strong owner satisfaction in a used luxury sedan. If you are more price-sensitive, focus on the best-condition example you can find rather than chasing the highest trim, since the car’s value depends heavily on equipment and upkeep.
