CarGurus Analysis: 2017 INFINITI Q50
Summary
With 554 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,896, 24.9% of 2017 INFINITI Q50 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 INFINITI Q50 4.75 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2017 INFINITI Q50 stands out as a midsize premium sedan that leans on a strong mix of power, equipment, and value. It was introduced as a replacement for the Infiniti Q40, and its appeal comes from offering a sporty-luxury feel without chasing the most expensive end of the segment. It also gives buyers a choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, which broadens its appeal for different driving needs.
For 2017, the Q50 sits in the generation that began with the 2013 model year, and it benefits from the broader strengths that defined the car throughout its run: generous standard equipment and powerful engine choices. The model’s standard features were a major selling point, and even early versions came with automatic LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, an eight-way power driver’s seat, SiriusXM satellite radio, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, voice recognition, and a rear-view camera. Premium trim and above added heated front seats, a Bose premium audio system, and Infiniti InTouch. Owners also tend to praise the Q50’s comfort, power, and luxury feel, along with its extensive feature content.
At the same time, the 2017 Q50 is not without compromises. Fuel economy was never a strong point for Infiniti sedans, and the Q50 was no exception. The model also had a limited engine range compared with many rivals, and some owners have noted small annoyances such as the factory rims and the lack of a spare tire. Even so, for shoppers who want a well-equipped luxury sedan with strong performance and a good value proposition, the 2017 INFINITI Q50 remains distinctive.

Same class as the bmw 5 series, while might not hug the road as well, it does everything else better, plus way more reliable, at a price far below the BMW.

We really liked this car. We have been driving a q40 and was driving the qx50 as an update. I found it had all the features I would be looking for. I’m still considering purchasing this car or a simulator model.

Excellent car to have luxury and sport. Very fun to drive and excellent reliability. Similar to a BMW or Audi except you don’t have to pay for the logo.

How much does the 2017 INFINITI Q50 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,950 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,950 |
| Year-Round High | $15,379 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $15,382 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.31% |
Prices have softened 9.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 559 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2017 INFINITI Q50 a good car?
Yes — the 2017 INFINITI Q50 earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, power, and luxury feel, and they also like the extensive feature content and driving performance. It fits well if you want a midsize premium sedan with a sporty-luxury character and a strong value proposition. With 29.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 INFINITI Q50 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, power, and the kind of trouble-free appeal that helps a car feel easy to live with over time. Buyers who want a used luxury sedan they can count on should still focus on maintenance records and condition, since long-term ownership risk is always lower when the car has been cared for consistently.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 INFINITI Q50?
At 48.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should get priority, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, because cosmetic wear, wheel damage, and signs of neglected maintenance can matter as much as the badge on the trunk.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 INFINITI Q50?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 559 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 48.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,950, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 INFINITI Q50's resale value?
The current average of $13,950 sits slightly below last year's $15,382.
That price movement suggests the model has softened, which can make resale a little more competitive for future sellers. If you buy at the right price now, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. Strong condition and a clean history matter more when a model is already trending lower in the market.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 INFINITI Q50 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 48.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $13,675, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,950 average.
- It feels more credible as a legitimate luxury sports sedan.
The bottom line:
You should start with the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability. If your priority is saving a bit more upfront, the 2016 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition with a clean history.
