How much does the 2017 Genesis G80 cost?

Prices have softened 2.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 252 listings available, which gives you a modest pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Genesis G80 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Genesis G80 earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its excellent value, impressive technology, and luxurious feel, especially when compared with more expensive brands like BMW and Audi. The overview also points to a strong premium impression and a comfortable, tech-rich experience, which fits buyers who want a midsize luxury sedan with a lot of equipment for the money. Even so, some owners mention long-drive seat comfort and missing convenience features, so it works best if you value content and value more than flawless polish.

The market also shows 33.7% of listings as good or great deals, which supports the case for shopping carefully.

Is the 2017 Genesis G80 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable, with strong value, impressive technology, and a luxurious feel that keeps them happy over time. The expert review also points to excellent efficiency and reliability standpoints, and it notes that Genesis includes free scheduled maintenance with valet service for the first three years of ownership. That combination suggests the car is built to be easy to live with, though used buyers should still watch for wear items and verify that any prior maintenance was completed on schedule.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Genesis G80?

At 52.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on bodywork quality, electronic features, and signs of long-term interior wear, since this model’s value proposition depends heavily on condition and equipment working as intended. If you’re comparing multiple listings, the cleanest example with the best maintenance history is usually the safest bet.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2017 G80 is offered in 3.8 and 5.0 trim levels. The 3.8 is the base version, while the 5.0 adds the more powerful V8 and a more fully equipped presentation.
• Powertrain: The 3.8-liter V6 is paired with an 8-speed automatic, and AWD is available on the 3.8. The 5.0 uses a 5.0-liter V8 with the same transmission and rear-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. The lane system can be less accurate in some road layouts.
• Infotainment: The upgraded 9.2-inch touchscreen is intuitive, and the 17-speaker Lexicon stereo is a highlight. This version does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 test car averaged 19.3 mpg on the test route and beat the EPA estimate of 18 mpg.

Which 2017 Genesis G80 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Genesis G80 is offered in 2 trim levels: 3.8 and 5.0.

Here's the short version:

• 3.8: This is the value pick if you want the G80 experience at the lower entry price. It gives you the core luxury-sedan formula, the V6, and available AWD, making it the smarter choice for most used buyers.
• 5.0: Choose this if you want the stronger V8 performance and a more fully loaded feel. It suits you best if you care more about power and equipment than keeping purchase price down.

The safety suite is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up trims to get the core driver-assistance features.

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards comparison shopping and quick action on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 252 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,811, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Genesis G80's resale value?

The current average of $15,460 sits slightly below last year's $15,799.

That decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that softer pricing trend. The good news is that the model’s value-oriented reputation and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. The system is comprehensive for the class, though the lane-keeping setup can be less accurate in some narrow or changing lane situations.

Should I buy a 2017 Genesis G80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings standard driver-assistance features and a strong value-focused luxury package.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $18,272, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $15,460 average.
• It adds a more performance-focused Sport trim with a twin-turbo V6 and adaptive suspension.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2017 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for a sportier character and newer upgrades, the 2018 is the better upgrade path.

How does the 2017 Genesis G80 compare to the 2017 BMW 5 Series?
