Used 2017 Genesis G80 for Sale nearPlano, TX

How much does the 2017 Genesis G80 cost?

Prices have softened 4.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 256 listings available, which gives you a modest pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Genesis G80 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Genesis G80 earns a 4.93/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its excellent value, impressive technology, and luxurious feel, especially relative to more expensive brands. The overview also points to a strong premium impression and a comfortable, tech-rich ownership experience, even if some buyers note seat comfort and missing convenience features. With 30.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Genesis G80 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.93/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers emphasizing value, comfort, and the sense that the car delivers a lot for the money. The expert review also frames the car as one that should satisfy owners from efficiency and reliability standpoints, and Genesis includes free scheduled maintenance with valet service for the first three years of ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about core durability and more about finding a well-kept example with the right maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Genesis G80?

At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Pay close attention to seat comfort, infotainment behavior, and any signs that driver-assistance systems or electronics are not working as intended. Because this model is positioned as a luxury sedan, condition matters a lot: a clean, well-maintained example is more likely to deliver the ownership experience you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 3.8 is the base version, while the 5.0 adds the more powerful V8 and a richer equipment set. The base trim is the one to scrutinize most closely if you want the strongest value without giving up too much equipment.
• Powertrain: The 2017 G80 offers a 3.8-liter V6 or a 5.0-liter V8, both paired with an 8-speed automatic. The 3.8 can be had with rear-wheel drive or AWD, while the V8 emphasizes smooth, quiet, effortless acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. The lane system can be less accurate in narrow or changing lane situations.
• Infotainment: The 5.0 uses a 9.2-inch touchscreen, and the system is generally easy to use. It does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto in this version, and the navigation system does not display traffic conditions.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 test car averaged 19.3 mpg, beating the EPA estimate of 18 mpg.

Which 2017 Genesis G80 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Genesis G80 is offered in 2 trim levels: 3.8 and 5.0.

Here's the short version:

• 3.8: This is the value play if you want the G80’s luxury-sedan formula with the 3.8-liter V6 and the option of AWD. It gives you the core Genesis experience at the lower entry price, making it the best-value trim for most shoppers.
• 5.0: Choose this if you want the strongest performance and the most upscale equipment. The V8 brings 420 horsepower, a 9.2-inch touchscreen, and the 17-speaker Lexicon audio system, but it makes the most sense if you’re willing to pay for the extra power and features.

Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Genesis G80?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 256 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,811, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Genesis G80's resale value?

The current average of $15,548 sits slightly below last year's $16,197.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the car in excellent condition, you can reduce the impact of that softer market. Well-equipped luxury sedans can still hold interest when they offer strong value and a premium ownership experience.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Genesis G80 safe?

The 2017 Genesis G80 earns a Top Safety Pick Plus rating from IIHS and a five-star crash-test rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver assistance includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. The lane-departure and lane-keeping system can be less accurate in narrow or shifting lane configurations, so that is worth checking during a test drive.

Should I buy a 2017 Genesis G80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: it adds standard driver-assistance tech and earns Top Safety Pick Plus recognition.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $18,756, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $15,548 average.
• It adds a more performance-focused Sport trim with a twin-turbo V6 and adaptive suspension.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2017 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and solid safety. If you’re willing to spend more for a sharper performance character, the 2018 is the better path.
