How much does the 2017 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 5.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2017 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Ford F-150 earns a 4.68/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the power, impressive safety features, and spacious interior, and they also like the range of options and luxurious amenities in higher trims. In use-case terms, that makes it especially appealing if you want a full-size pickup that can serve as both a capable daily driver and a more premium truck when properly equipped.

The market still shows healthy interest, with 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2017 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.68/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that many people feel good about living with over time, with recurring praise for power, safety, and the spacious cabin. The expert drive notes also emphasize that it’s built to handle demanding use while still working as a daily driver, which supports the idea that it’s meant to be counted on.

The truck’s off-road-focused hardware and everyday usability suggest a durable design, but used buyers should still pay close attention to condition, maintenance history, and any signs of hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford F-150?

At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of the frame, suspension, tires, and underbody, especially if the truck has seen off-road use. It’s also smart to focus on how well the cabin electronics, driveline, and safety equipment function, since those systems matter a lot in a truck like this. If you’re shopping a higher-trim example, make sure the added equipment is working as intended and matches the listing description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Raptor leans more toward function than form, with custom-designed 35-inch tires, a beefed-up Fox Racing suspension, and a torque-on-demand transfer case that set it apart from a standard F-150. It also benefits from the revamped F-150’s aluminum body construction, stiffened frame, and added safety systems.
• Powertrain: The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 makes 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, and the 10-speed transmission helps keep highway revs low. The truck is tuned for serious off-road performance, but the transmission can feel confused when wheelspin gets aggressive.
• Safety package: Standard blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic and trailer coverage is a strong starting point, and the available Technology package adds adaptive cruise with collision mitigation, lane-keep with warning and intervention, and auto wipers and high-beams. The 360-degree camera with split view is also a useful add-on.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Sync 3 and Sync Connect, plus standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is a major improvement over MyFord Touch, and the 360-degree camera display is integrated into the screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 15 mpg city, 18 mpg highway, and 16 mpg combined.

Which 2017 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Ford F-150 is offered in 1 trim level: Raptor.

Here's the short version:

The Raptor: This is the trim to buy if you want the truck’s full off-road personality, including the 450-hp twin-turbo V6, upgraded suspension, and torque-on-demand 4WD hardware. It’s the clear choice for buyers who care most about desert-running capability and want the most distinctive version of the truck. The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Technology package adds key driver-assistance features, while the standard blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic and trailer coverage already gives you a strong baseline.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help keep demand moving if your truck is clean and well maintained. Should I buy a 2017 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.68/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 stands out for bringing back the Raptor with a new platform, a 450-hp twin-turbo V6, and major suspension and chassis upgrades.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $18,889, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $21,392 average.
• It leans hard into luxury without giving up its truck identity.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $23,811, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $21,392 average.
• It delivers in nearly all areas and is one of the most well-rounded new pickups available.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive, performance-focused version of this truck, the 2017 is the one to target. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2016 is the better value play, while the 2018 makes sense if you want a broader all-around pickup and are willing to pay more.
