How much does the 2017 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 6.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,212 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2017 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Ford Escape earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

You get a compact crossover that emphasizes comfort, handling, and cargo space, while also offering strong performance and useful features. The overview points to a more modern feel thanks to the refresh, and the user feedback reinforces that this is a practical daily driver with broad appeal. Good and great deals make up 31.2% of listings, so there are still opportunities to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights comfort, handling, cargo space, and features as recurring strengths, and it also describes the model as a dependable choice for many drivers. The expert evaluation adds that the Escape’s powertrain and road manners make it a composed, easy-to-live-with crossover, with smooth shifting and a quiet cabin supporting everyday usability. Ford’s 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty also helps reduce early ownership risk for used buyers.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Escape?

At 68.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Pay extra attention to cabin condition, hatch operation, and how well the vehicle’s features work, since condition and history matter more when the listing pool includes accident records. A pre-purchase inspection is especially worthwhile if you’re considering a higher-trim example with more equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S is the most stripped-down version, while the SE adds more convenience and comfort equipment, and the Titanium brings the most upscale features. The base trim’s simpler setup makes it the one most likely to feel light on amenities.
• Powertrain: You can choose among a standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, a turbocharged 1.5-liter EcoBoost, or a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged EcoBoost. The EcoBoost engines are described as offering strong performance along with good fuel efficiency.
• Safety package: The standard safety equipment includes a rear-view camera, traction control, 4-wheel antilock brakes, brake assist, roll stability control, and blind-spot-integrated mirrors. Higher trims add more advanced driver-assistance features, including lane-keeping alert, lane-keeping aid, driver alert aid, adaptive cruise control, and collision warning with brake support.
• Infotainment: The base system uses Sync with an AM/FM/CD/MP3 setup and 6 speakers. Sync 3 adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Sync Connect brings remote access features through FordPass.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter EcoBoost in 4-wheel-drive form is rated at 20 mpg city/27 highway/23 combined.

Which 2017 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2017 Ford Escape is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the least expensive way into the Escape, but it is also the most basic. You get the standard engine, cloth seating, manual driver-seat adjustment, and the simpler infotainment setup, so it makes sense only if price matters more than features.
• SE: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a stronger mix of comfort and convenience equipment, including a power driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, and more available tech and safety options. If you want a well-rounded Escape without jumping to the top trim, this is the one to target.
• Titanium: This is the most feature-rich version, with leather-trimmed seats, a premium audio system, standard Sync 3 and Sync Connect, and more advanced safety availability. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Escape experience.

The Titanium also brings the most advanced safety and convenience content, while the SE is the trim where the value story is strongest.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Escape?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,212 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,388, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $10,388 sits slightly below last year's $11,081.

That price movement suggests the Escape has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. A lower current market value can also mean your future trade-in offer may stay under pressure unless the vehicle is especially clean, well-equipped, and well documented. Strong condition and a desirable trim can help offset some of that depreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Ford Escape safe?

The 2017 Ford Escape earns five-star ratings from NHTSA in all but the rollover test, where it earns a four-star rating. It also earns a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS, with Good ratings in most crash tests and an Acceptable result in small overlap front.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes a rear-view camera, multiple airbags, brake assist, traction control, 4-wheel antilock brakes, and blind-spot-integrated mirrors. Available driver-assistance features include lane-keeping alert, lane-keeping aid, driver alert aid, adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake support, and bi-xenon HID headlights. One caveat to keep in mind is the IIHS Marginal rating for the LATCH system, which can make child-seat installation less straightforward.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 brings a significant refresh with updated styling, improved interior usability, and stronger tech.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,037, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $10,388 average.
• It offers agile handling and stout engine options.

The bottom line: If you want the more modern Escape with better tech and a refreshed cabin, the 2017 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better value path, especially if you find one with clean history and solid maintenance records.
