How much does the 2017 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 7.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,827 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Edge earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, spacious interior, and comfort, and many also like the well-appointed features and smooth ride. In practical terms, that lines up with the Edge’s family-first setup: seating for five, ample cargo room, and storage cubbies that make it easy to live with. It is a strong fit if you want a manageable crossover that prioritizes everyday usefulness over flashy styling.

30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as reliable and note that many found it to be a dependable vehicle with a lot to offer for the price. The expert drive notes also point to a composed, responsive ride with well-timed shifts and solid braking, which supports the sense that it is built to be easy to count on. The base model’s value-oriented setup can be appealing, but some buyers may want to pay close attention to maintenance history and any reported engine concerns before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Edge?

At 69.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on condition, prior repairs, and whether the equipment you want is actually present, since some desirable safety and convenience features were reserved for higher trims. If you are shopping the base model, pay extra attention to whether its simpler equipment list still fits your needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE comes with cloth seats, a 4.2-inch screen, and a reversing camera, while higher trims add features such as heated or leather-trimmed seating, a larger touchscreen, premium audio, and more convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: The lineup starts with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 245 horsepower, adds an available 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower on the SEL and Titanium, and tops out with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 315 horsepower in the Sport.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, forward-collision warning, and a 180-degree front camera with washer. Some of these features require higher trims rather than the base model.
• Infotainment: Base models use Sync with a 4.2-inch screen and a single USB port, while Sync 3 brings an 8-inch touchscreen, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine with front-wheel drive is rated at 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, while the Sport is rated at 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Which 2017 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2017 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Edge experience at the lowest price. You get the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, a reversing camera, and the basic Sync setup, so it works best if you want the Edge’s space and comfort without paying for extras.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and convenience upgrades, including available heated seating, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3, and more available safety tech. If you want the sweet spot in the lineup, this is the one to focus on.
• Titanium: This trim leans into comfort and tech with standard leather-trimmed heated seats, driver memory, Sync 3, two USB ports, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. It suits you if you want a more upscale daily driver.
• Sport: This is the performance-focused choice, with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, 315 horsepower, adaptive steering, a sport-tuned suspension, and standard AWD. It is the right pick if driving enjoyment matters more than value.

The safety content notes that some desirable safety features are available only on higher trims, and the Edge is not eligible for the Top Safety Pick+ rating because it lacks front crash-mitigation technology.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Edge?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,827 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,013, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $12,016 sits slightly below last year's $13,053.

That softer pricing suggests the Edge has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help a future seller if the market stays steady. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. The current inventory and deal mix also suggest buyers are still active, which helps support demand.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Ford Edge safe?

The 2017 Ford Edge earns an overall five-star rating from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS, though it received an Acceptable result in small front overlap and is not eligible for Top Safety Pick+.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The available safety suite includes lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, forward-collision warning, and a 180-degree front camera with washer. Multiple airbags are standard, and higher trims are where you find more of the advanced driver-assistance content. The main caveat is that the Edge lacks front crash-mitigation technology, so it misses out on the top IIHS award.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 Edge is a practical, family-first crossover with strong space and comfort.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $10,694, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $12,016 average.
• It emphasizes a more performance-minded Edge Sport character with a twin-turbo V6.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2017 is the safer default because it combines strong owner satisfaction, a softer price trend, and broad family usefulness. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 can make sense, especially if you are specifically interested in its sportier personality.
