Used 2017 Dodge Durango for Sale nearBuffalo, NY

How much does the 2017 Dodge Durango cost?

Prices have softened 7.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,334 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2017 Dodge Durango a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.6/5 user rating, and the expert rating is 7.2/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the powerful V8 engine, stylish design, spacious interior, and smooth ride. That lines up with the Durango’s role as a full-size SUV that can handle family errands, road trips, and heavier-duty tasks while still offering a crossover-like ride.

You should also expect a rugged, function-first personality rather than a polished luxury feel. For shoppers who want room for up to 7 passengers and real towing strength, that mix can be a strong fit.

29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Dodge Durango reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because of its strong engine, spacious cabin, and smooth everyday manners. That kind of satisfaction usually matters when you’re trying to judge whether a used SUV will feel dependable after the sale.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes confident road manners, solid braking, and a sense of control at speed, which supports the Durango’s day-to-day dependability. On the ownership side, the included 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, 3-year/36,000-mile basic limited warranty, and 5 years/60,000 miles of roadside assistance add some reassurance.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-spec versions can become expensive to own if you want more features, more power, or more fuel use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Dodge Durango?

At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, safety systems, and any signs of uneven wear. Because this SUV can be optioned in many different ways, condition matters as much as trim level when you’re comparing listings.

Pay close attention to how the cabin equipment works, whether the infotainment system responds properly, and whether the drivetrain feels smooth under load. If you’re considering a higher-mileage example, make sure the maintenance record supports the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Durango offers four trim levels—SXT, GT, Citadel, and R/T—each with a choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The base SXT starts at $29,995 and is available only with seating for five passengers, while the GT adds an 8.4-inch screen, power front seats, and rear park assist. The Citadel brings ventilated Nappa leather, navigation, and a premium audio system, and the R/T is the performance version with sport suspension and unique interior treatments.
• Powertrain: You have your choice of either a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The V6 comes with either 293 or 295 horsepower and can tow up to 6,200 pounds, while the V8 delivers 360 horsepower and up to 7,400 pounds of towing.
• Safety package: Every Durango has multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, rain brake support, ready alert braking, and trailer-sway control. Optional features include adaptive cruise control with stop, advanced brake assist, blind-spot monitoring with cross-path detection, forward-collision warning with active braking, ParkSense rear park assist and rear backup camera, and LaneSense lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: The Durango features Uconnect with either a 5.0-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen, a standard 6-speaker audio system, USB and auxiliary inputs, and two 12-volt outlets. It does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but it can be equipped with a 9-speaker Alpine system or a BeatsAudio premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 AWD is rated 18/25, and the Hemi V8 is rated 14/22. The V8’s thirst is especially worth considering if you drive long distances or plan to tow often.

Which 2017 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?

The 2017 Dodge Durango is offered in 4 trim levels: SXT, GT, Citadel, and R/T.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Durango’s space, towing ability, and basic family utility without chasing extras. It’s the least expensive path into the lineup, but it also stays the most basic, with the smaller 5.0-inch screen and fewer comfort upgrades.
• GT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful everyday upgrades like the 8.4-inch screen, power driver and passenger seats, and rear park assist without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• Citadel: Choose this if you want the most comfort-focused Durango. It adds ventilated Nappa leather, navigation, a premium Alpine audio system, and available advanced driver-assistance features, making it the most upscale choice in the lineup.
• R/T: Pick this if you want the Durango’s performance character. It comes only with the Hemi V8 and adds sport suspension, performance steering, and unique interior details, so it suits buyers who care more about power and handling than luxury polish.

Safety-package note: advanced driver-assistance features are available on higher trims rather than standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Dodge Durango?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, compare, and negotiate.

• Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,334 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,628, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Dodge Durango's resale value?

The current average of $14,628 sits slightly below last year's $15,791.

That price movement suggests the Durango has softened enough to create a more approachable used-buying window, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

The model’s broad appeal helps support demand, especially because it combines family space, towing strength, and a strong feature set. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than rougher, higher-mileage listings.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Dodge Durango safe?

The 2017 Dodge Durango earns five-star ratings in side crash testing and four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover tests from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Durango includes multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, rain brake support, ready alert braking, and trailer-sway control. Optional safety tech includes adaptive cruise control with stop, advanced brake assist, blind-spot monitoring with cross-path detection, forward-collision warning with active braking, ParkSense rear park assist and rear backup camera, and LaneSense lane-departure warning.

The main caveat is that the crash-test results are not class-leading for a family SUV, so you should weigh the Durango’s capability and comfort against its safety record. If safety is your top priority, look closely at the available driver-assistance features and the condition of any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2017 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances family space, towing strength, and a rugged, function-first character.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $13,413, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $14,628 average.
• It adds sportier updates and more standard equipment.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $17,570, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $14,628 average.
• It adds Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a more modern touchscreen.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the right pick if you want a well-rounded Durango with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used-market price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2016 is the value play; if you want newer tech, the 2018 is the better upgrade path.
