What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chrysler 300?

At 52.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced example. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the car’s equipment and electronics work as expected. Because this is a large sedan with available premium features, it’s worth checking that the cabin, infotainment, and driver-assistance systems all operate properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Limited gets only the smaller V6 engine, while the 300S adds a more powerful V6, sport-tuned dual exhaust, paddle shifters, and a Sport Mode. The 300C shifts toward luxury with Nappa leather, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, and a dual-pane power sunroof. The 300C Platinum adds platinum exterior trim accents, upgraded floor mats, natural-pore Mocha wood interior trim, luxury Nappa leather seats, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
• Powertrain: Engine choices include a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter V8, both paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The V6 is the efficiency-minded choice, while the V8 brings stronger output and a more performance-oriented feel.
• Safety package: The SafetyTec Package includes advanced brake assist, rain-sensing wipers, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, auto high beams, full-speed forward-collision warning with active braking, adaptive cruise control with stop, and ParkSense front and rear park assist. All but the base Limited offer it.
• Infotainment: The Uconnect 8.4 system uses an 8.4-inch color touchscreen and includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. An optional upgraded system adds navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 achieves an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city and 30 highway with rear-wheel drive, or 18/27 with all-wheel drive. V8 models drop to 16/25.

Which 2017 Chrysler 300 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chrysler 300 is offered in 4 trim levels: Limited, 300S, 300C, and 300C Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• Limited: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core 300 experience with the smaller V6, leather seating, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and Uconnect 8.4 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the lineup and don’t need the extra performance or luxury upgrades.
• 300S: This is the best-value trim if you want more personality. It adds a more powerful V6, sport-tuned dual exhaust, paddle shifters, Sport Mode, and available upgrades like the V8, BeatsAudio, and appearance packages. It’s the trim to target if you want the strongest blend of style, features, and driving character.
• 300C: This is the right choice if you care more about comfort and upscale amenities than sportiness. You get Nappa leather, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, and a dual-pane power sunroof, with the V8 adding Sport Mode and paddle shifters.
• 300C Platinum: This is the most luxurious version, with platinum exterior accents, upgraded interior trim, luxury Nappa leather, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and the richest feature set in the lineup. It suits you best if you want the most premium 300 experience and are willing to pay for it.

The SafetyTec Package is available on all but the base Limited, so that trim-level gap is worth keeping in mind if advanced driver assistance matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chrysler 300?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 604 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,788, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chrysler 300's resale value?

The current average of $13,788 sits slightly below last year's $14,696.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a better entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the market tightens. If you’re planning to sell later, a well-kept example with strong equipment and clean history should be easier to market than one with accident history or visible wear. The 300’s broad appeal as a comfortable, upscale full-size sedan should help support demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chrysler 300 safe?

The Chrysler 300 earns four-star ratings from NHTSA overall and a Marginal rating in the IIHS Small Overlap Front test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, a ParkView reversing camera, rain brake support, ready alert braking, and tire pressure monitors. The available SafetyTec Package adds advanced brake assist, rain-sensing wipers, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, auto high beams, full-speed forward-collision warning with active braking, adaptive cruise control with stop, and ParkSense front and rear park assist. All but the base Limited offer that package.

The Marginal small-overlap result is the main caveat to keep in mind, so it’s worth prioritizing a well-equipped trim and verifying that the safety systems work properly.

Should I buy a 2017 Chrysler 300 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 model year benefits from faster Uconnect performance and added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which make it feel more modern than earlier versions.

The bottom line: If you want a comfortable, upscale full-size sedan and you find a clean 2017 at a strong price, it’s a smart buy. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also shop carefully and focus on the best-maintained examples, since condition and history matter a lot in this segment.

How does the 2017 Chrysler 300 compare to the 2017 Dodge Charger?

Our experts score the 2017 Chrysler 300 8.3/10 and the 2017 Dodge Charger 7.3/10.

The Chrysler 300 leans more toward luxury, comfort, and a quieter, more upscale cabin, while the Charger is the more affordable starting point with a sportier personality. You also get a lower average used price in the 300, though the Charger has more listings available. If you want a big sedan that feels more premium and relaxed, the 300 is the better fit; if you want a lower entry price and a more aggressive character, the Charger is the one to compare closely.
