Used 2017 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearSyracuse, NY

How much does the 2017 Chevrolet Trax cost?

Prices have softened 9.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,064 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Chevrolet Trax earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its great gas mileage, compact size, and practical everyday usefulness. They also like its features and how well it handles, especially on hills. For you, that makes it a sensible small crossover if you want easy maneuverability, useful tech, and a straightforward commuter-friendly setup rather than a plush ride.

The market also shows 27.4% good and great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on practicality, compact size, and everyday usefulness. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Trax is built around easy living and affordability, with a simple, approachable formula that suits long-term use.

Chevrolet also notes that the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a small crossover like this can feel less refined and less robust than some rivals, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Trax?

At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible cosmetic wear. Focus on how the car drives, whether the tech works properly, and whether the interior shows signs of hard use, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on condition and equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS trim gives you the essentials, but it loses the under-seat storage and uses reflectors in the headlights rather than projectors. The LT adds alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED running and tail lights, cruise control, remote start, heated mirrors, satellite radio, roof rails, upgraded cloth, a 110-volt outlet, and other appearance upgrades. The Premier adds 18-inch alloys, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, full vinyl upholstery, and heated front seats, but it omits the sunroof unless you add it separately.
• Powertrain: Every Trax uses a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. The engine can feel strained when you ask for highway passing or hill climbing, and the 6-speed transmission is tuned for efficiency rather than urgency.
• Safety package: The available Driver Confidence package adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors. The Premier can also get Driver Confidence II, which adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning. The LS cannot be outfitted with these features, and the LT cannot get the forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an extra USB port. The system does not include built-in navigation, so smartphone integration matters more here than on many rivals.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is rated at 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, though the expert evaluation notes that real-world results can fall short of those figures.

Which 2017 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2017 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the least expensive way into the Trax, and it already gives you the redesigned cabin, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch touchscreen, and a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the extra comfort and safety upgrades.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED running and tail lights, cruise control, remote start, heated mirrors, satellite radio, roof rails, upgraded cloth, and a 110-volt outlet. It also opens the door to useful option packages, including the Sun & Sound package and the Driver Confidence package.
• Premier: This is the most feature-rich trim, with 18-inch alloys, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, full vinyl upholstery, and heated front seats. It suits you if you want the most upscale Trax experience, but the ride and wheel setup make it less compelling than the LT for many buyers.

The safety-package setup is worth noting: the LS cannot be equipped with the driver-assistance features, the LT can get most of them, and the Premier can add the forward-collision and lane-departure warning package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chevrolet Trax?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,064 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,981, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $8,981 sits slightly below last year's $9,932.

That decline suggests the Trax has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help demand among value-focused shoppers. For a future seller, that also means pricing competitively will matter if you want to stand out in a market where buyers have plenty of alternatives to compare.

The model’s practical reputation and strong owner satisfaction help support interest, but resale value will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2017 Chevrolet Trax has been awarded top marks from both the government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The available driver-assistance suite includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and forward-collision warning, with lane-departure warning also available on the Premier through Driver Confidence II. The LS cannot be equipped with these features, and the LT cannot get the forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 update brought a redesigned look, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an extra USB port, and newly available safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the most updated version of this Trax generation, the 2017 is the one to target because it adds the modern tech and refreshed design that make the model easier to live with. If you’re mainly shopping on price, a nearby year may still make sense, but you’ll want to compare equipment carefully because the 2017’s updates materially improve the ownership experience.
