What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Audi Q7?

At 70.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any signs of prior bodywork or uneven panel fit. Focus on the condition of the advanced driver-assistance features, infotainment system, and suspension components, since those are the kinds of systems that can be costly to sort out later. If you’re comparing multiple listings, put the cleanest history and best maintenance record at the top of your list.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Premium starts with a panoramic sunroof, LED running and taillights, leather upholstery, automatic wipers, power-folding heated mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, forward-collision warning with auto-brake, a reversing camera, 3-zone auto climate control, heated front seats with 8-way power and driver lumbar, and a 7-inch MMI display. Premium Plus adds navigation, keyless entry and ignition, a power-adjustable steering wheel, auto-dimming side mirrors, interior accent lighting, and blind-spot monitoring. Prestige adds LED headlights, a surround-view camera, a TFT display, ventilated front seats, 4-zone auto climate control, rear window sunshades, a larger 8.3-inch display, head-up display, and a 19-speaker Bose stereo. The best-value trim is the Premium Plus if you want the strongest mix of equipment and safety features without jumping to the top price tier.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque and returns 20 mpg city, 25 highway, 22 combined. The supercharged V6 makes 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque and gives up only 1 mpg in the city and combined while delivering quicker acceleration and stronger towing capability.
• Safety package: Audi Pre-Sense is part of the safety story, and the Q7 includes adaptive cruise, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and mitigation, night vision, and front and rear parking sensors. The base trim includes forward-collision warning with auto-brake and a reversing camera, while blind-spot monitoring arrives on Premium Plus.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses a 7-inch Audi MMI display, while Prestige upgrades to a larger 8.3-inch high-resolution display. The cabin also features the virtual cockpit, and the tech suite is built around FlexRay and high-speed optical fiber. Wireless smartphone integration and over-the-air capability are not stated here.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter engine returns 20 mpg city, 25 highway, 22 combined. The V6 sacrifices only 1 mpg in the city and combined, but the exact figures are not stated here.

Which 2017 Audi Q7 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Audi Q7 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, but it still gives you a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, parking sensors, a reversing camera, and forward-collision warning with auto-brake. If you want the lowest-cost way into the Q7, this is the trim to start with, though it leaves out some of the convenience and safety upgrades found higher up.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim because it adds navigation, keyless entry and ignition, a power-adjustable steering wheel, auto-dimming side mirrors, interior accent lighting, and blind-spot monitoring. If you want the most balanced mix of luxury and safety without paying for the top trim, this is the one to target.
• Prestige: This trim brings the most upscale equipment, including LED headlights, a surround-view camera, ventilated front seats, 4-zone climate control, rear sunshades, a larger display, head-up display, and a 19-speaker Bose stereo. It’s the right pick if you want the most fully equipped Q7 and are willing to pay for it.

Audi Pre-Sense and the broader driver-assistance suite are part of the Q7’s safety appeal, with blind-spot monitoring arriving on Premium Plus and additional camera and lighting upgrades on Prestige.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Audi Q7?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,099 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,023, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Audi Q7's resale value?

The current average of $14,023 sits slightly below last year's $15,851.

That price movement suggests the Q7 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have less downside left than a buyer who paid closer to the original market peak. Strong demand for well-equipped luxury SUVs can also help support values, especially when the vehicle has a clean history and good maintenance records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Audi Q7 safe?

The 2017 Audi Q7 earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Audi Pre-Sense is part of the safety package, and the Q7 includes adaptive cruise, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and mitigation, night vision, front and rear parking sensors, traction and stability control, and a full airbag suite. The system is especially comprehensive on better-equipped trims, while blind-spot monitoring arrives on Premium Plus and the surround-view camera is reserved for Prestige. One caveat is that the adaptive cruise and forward-collision warning system has previously shown occasional false activations, so you should pay close attention to how those systems behave during a test drive.

Should I buy a 2017 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• After a year off, the Q7 returns with a new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, improved technology, more interior space, a full visual redesign, and 700 pounds less curb weight.

The bottom line: The 2017 Q7 makes sense if you want the redesigned version with strong owner satisfaction, a lower used price, and a broad set of luxury and safety features. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you should focus on the best-maintained Premium Plus listings, since that trim gives you the most balanced feature set without pushing you into the highest-priced version.
