Is the 2017 Acura TLX reliable?

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers find dependable in daily use, especially for its smooth ride and trouble-free comfort over rough roads. That said, some owners mention transmission behavior in eco and normal modes, so long-term ownership risk is worth evaluating carefully on any used example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Acura TLX?

At 52.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report first so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Put inspection priority on the transmission behavior, especially if the car has the V6 and automatic setup, and pay close attention to how it shifts in everyday driving. Focus on overall condition, service records, and whether the features you want are working properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Acura TLX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find value.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 486 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.50% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,352, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Acura TLX's resale value?

The current average of $15,374 sits slightly below last year's $16,098.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless you buy well and keep the car in strong condition. If you plan to sell later, a clean history and good maintenance records should help you stand out in a market where shoppers have choices. The current pricing trend also suggests that depreciation has already done some of the work for you, which can help if you buy at the right number.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Acura TLX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $14,719, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,374 average.
• It emphasizes Acura’s renewed performance-luxury identity.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $18,380, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $15,374 average.
• It adds a refreshed face and a sportier A-Spec option.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the best all-around pick if you want a strong mix of value, owner satisfaction, and available inventory. If your budget is tighter, the 2016 is the better price-first alternative, while the 2018 makes sense only if you want the newer styling and are willing to pay more.
