For used shoppers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been well maintained and carefully inspected before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Nissan Rogue?

At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history before you go any further. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and how the vehicle drives and shifts. Because this model year is known for being practical and comfortable, you want to make sure the example you choose still feels clean, well cared for, and mechanically sound.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Nissan Rogue?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,124 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,228, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Nissan Rogue's resale value?

The current average of $10,228 sits slightly below last year's $10,738.

That price movement suggests the Rogue has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. If you keep the Rogue in strong shape and document service history, you give yourself a better chance of standing out when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $9,386, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $10,228 average.
• It offers a polished, mature design with a refined look.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better value-oriented alternative, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
