CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Nissan LEAF

Picture of 2016 Nissan LEAF ## Summary - With 172 currently listed for sale on CarGurus and an **average price of $6,035.00**, 21.5% of 2016 Nissan LEAFs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals. - **Favorably reviewed:** Owners rated the 2016 Nissan LEAF 3.8 / 5 stars. - **79.1% of 2016 LEAF models on CarGurus are accident free**. - The 2016 Nissan LEAF introduced a battery upgrade that increased the range to 104 miles and included a standard quick-charge port for mid-level trims, enhancing usability. ## Why it stands out The 2016 Nissan LEAF is a significant update for the well-established electric vehicle lineup, which has primarily led the sector since its inception. This model year stands out due to the upgrade in battery capacity, increasing from 24kW to 30kW, thus alleviating range anxiety with a new total of 104 miles of available range—an increase of 23 miles over its predecessor. Additionally, the introduction of a quick-charge port on SV and SL trims enhances practicality, enabling an 80% charge in about 30 minutes. While the Leaf's acceleration is not its strong suit, taking over 10 seconds to reach 60 mph, its ample interior space (24 cubic feet of trunk space, expandable to 30 with rear seats down) and thoughtful tech features like remote monitoring with Nissan Connect EV make it appealing for everyday use. However, despite these improvements, the vehicle's somewhat outdated design and limited performance may deter some buyers. Nonetheless, notable strengths include its cost-effectiveness, with electric vehicle fuel savings estimates of more than $6,000 over five years, making it a solid choice for those looking to save on fuel costs. ## Other model years to consider - **[2018 Nissan LEAF](https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-2018-Nissan-LEAF-c27190)** - Average price: $9,468.00 - Good/great deal percentage: 35.0% - User rating: 4.36 / 5 - Total listings: 240 - **[2020 Nissan LEAF](https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-2020-Nissan-LEAF-c30025)** - Average price: $12,281.00 - Good/great deal percentage: 34.3% - User rating: 4.75 / 5 - Total listings: 265 - **[2015 Nissan LEAF](https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-2015-Nissan-LEAF-c24478)** - Average price: $5,398.00 - Good/great deal percentage: 15.8% - User rating: 4.29 / 5 - Total listings: 158 This analysis is based on CarGurus' proprietary market data from October 10, 2023, CarGurus experts' opinions, and generative AI.

Great vehicle for in town, range is limited for distance travel. Compares with Kia Soul EV but I prefer the more aerodynamic shape of the Nissan Leaf.

It looked to be in really good shape and only had 27,000 miles. I didn’t test drive it because I’ve never driven an EV and didn’t know how and I was also concerned about the charging. There are fast chargers and slow chargers, and different kinds of connections on different cars so a big learning curve.

Just drove home in this new (to me) LEAF. It is really comfy, drives smoothly, looks brand new inside! Came with 25 ft. charging cord. Bluetooth, navigation system, and looks like new tires! Registration good until June 2024. We were mostly looking at LEAFs but did inquire at a different dealer about a Kia Soul EV. The person at the dealer (Joe) was super helpful and the transaction was super easy. Thanks, Joe! Very happy with our purchase! Looking forward to putting gas money and repair costs into our savings account!

If there was an option for zero stars, I would select it. The battery life sucks. You drive 5 miles and the car docks 10. It takes 21 hours to fully charge. This car has been a big inconvenience for us. Luckily were testing this car for 7 days cause it just ruining our lives right now. We cant go anywhere or even drive more than 50mph without the car snatching miles from us. My kids school is exactly 10 miles there and back and takes 21 miles from us. Dont buy this car.

It drives well, is clean inside with plenty of space, and has a clean record! Low mileage is a plus.
