How much does the 2016 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 2.25% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,568 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and condition.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.73/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its handling, comfort, and value for money, and they also call out good gas mileage and useful safety features. That makes it a strong fit if you want a compact SUV that feels more engaging to drive than many rivals while still working well as a practical daily driver. With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback highlights a generally positive ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, value, and the kind of dependable day-to-day usability that helps a used SUV stay appealing over time. A few owners did mention minor issues, but the overall tone suggests many drivers have been able to count on it for regular use. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable if you verify condition carefully and avoid examples with unresolved maintenance or repair history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past collision work, then test the infotainment system and braking feel during the drive. Because this model year has reported engine, electrical, and brake issues, a pre-purchase inspection is especially worthwhile if you want to reduce surprise repair risk.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right example.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,568 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.25% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 57.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,057, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $14,076 sits slightly above last year's $13,766.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to resell later. A stable-to-rising price trend can help protect your ownership costs, especially if you buy near the lower end of the range and keep the vehicle in clean condition. Strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.25% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,370, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,076 average.
• It emphasizes lively driving feel and strong owner appeal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $15,958, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $14,076 average.
• It leans more upscale while staying fun to drive.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the best all-around pick if you want a well-liked CX-5 with solid owner satisfaction and a broad used-car market to shop from. If your priority is saving money, the 2015 is the better value path; if you want a newer-feeling, more premium-leaning alternative and can spend more, the 2017 is worth a look.
