The current average of $12,550 sits slightly below last year's $12,649.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which can help you estimate future value with less volatility than a sharply moving segment. The CX-3’s compact size and premium-leaning appeal can help keep it attractive to shoppers who want a small crossover with a more upscale feel.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the earliest CX-3 and you value its standard all-wheel drive, sporty feel, and compact footprint, the 2016 is a sensible primary choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep a close eye on listings near the low end of the range and be ready to move quickly when condition and history line up.
