The 2016 Mazda CX-3 is described as a small crossover with great safety ratings and a well-equipped cabin, which supports confidence in day-to-day ownership. Its compact size and standard all-wheel drive also make it a practical fit for buyers who want a straightforward used crossover experience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the vehicle’s appeal and more about finding one that has been cared for consistently, since condition will matter a lot in a small crossover with limited space and a premium-leaning setup.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mazda CX-3?

At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks attractive relative to the market.

Focus your condition check on the areas that matter most in a small crossover: interior wear, cargo-area usability, and whether the infotainment system works the way you expect. Because this model emphasizes style and driving enjoyment over space, you want to make sure the specific car you choose still feels tight, clean, and well maintained.
