Used 2016 Kia Sedona for Sale nearPortland, ME

How much does the 2016 Kia Sedona cost?

Prices have softened 4.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 342 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Kia Sedona a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 from owners, and the expert rating is 7.67/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

The 2016 Kia Sedona stands out by blending SUV-inspired design cues with the utility and practicality of a minivan, so you get family-friendly space without the usual minivan look. Kia also gives the top-of-the-line SXL model the materials and features of a luxury car, which helps it feel more upscale than many rivals.

31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2016 Kia Sedona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sedona’s overview describes it as a practical family vehicle with a more premium presentation, and the expert review says quality and reliability are about average. Its 3.3-liter V6 and 6-speed automatic are described as robust and refined, which supports confidence in everyday use.

Kia also notes that in some parts of the country, a free maintenance program is part of the deal, which can help lower early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge, so a careful inspection is still important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Kia Sedona?

At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has been used for family hauling or long-distance travel. Focus on signs of wear in the interior, sliding-door operation, and any evidence that safety or driver-assistance features have been repaired after a collision.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sedona’s trim ladder includes L, LX, EX, SX, and SXL (SX Limited), and the top SXL adds a more luxury-like presentation with premium materials and features. The base LX is the one most clearly described as having fewer standard connected features, since UVO eServices is optional there and standard on other versions.
• Powertrain: The Sedona uses a 3.3-liter V6 with 276 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The review says it feels strong with passengers aboard, shifts unobtrusively, and returns about 19.1 mpg in combined driving, with 22.1 mpg on a highway-heavy run.
• Safety package: UVO eServices adds teen-monitoring features, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert is available for the EX and standard on the SX and SXL. The Technology Package for the SX or SXL adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: UVO eServices centers on an 8-inch touchscreen and includes connected services, Bluetooth-based access, emergency calling, automatic collision notification, and a parking minder. The SX and SXL can also get an Infinity premium Surround Sound audio system, navigation with real-time traffic and topographical relief maps, and a 360-degree surround-view monitoring system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sedona averaged 22.1 mpg on a highway-heavy drive and 19.1 mpg in combined driving, matching the EPA’s 19 mpg combined estimate.

Which 2016 Kia Sedona trim should I buy?

The 2016 Kia Sedona is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX, and SXL (SX Limited).

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Sedona’s core space and style at the lowest starting price, but you should expect the fewest features.
• LX: This is the trim to consider if you want the best value, because it keeps the Sedona affordable while still giving you access to the model’s useful connected-tech features through UVO eServices.
• EX: This is the smart step-up if you want more convenience and safety equipment, including available blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
• SX: This trim adds more premium equipment and can be paired with the Technology Package, which brings adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• SXL (SX Limited): This is the most upscale choice, with the most luxury-like materials and features, so it suits you best if you want the Sedona to feel as premium as possible.

The safety package is strongest on the SX and SXL when equipped with the Technology Package, while blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on those trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Kia Sedona?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 342 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,821, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Kia Sedona's resale value?

The current average of $8,871 sits slightly below last year's $9,312.

That softer pricing suggests the Sedona has become more approachable for buyers, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than rougher ones, especially because shoppers can compare a fair number of listings. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Kia Sedona safe?

The 2016 Kia Sedona earns five-star ratings in every federal crash assessment and a four-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA, and it gets the top rating of Good in all IIHS crash tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sedona’s safety equipment includes UVO eServices with teen-monitoring features such as speed, curfew, and boundary alerts. A blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert is available for the EX and standard for the SX and SXL, while the Technology Package for the SX or SXL adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights.

One caveat is that the IIHS frontal crash prevention result is only Basic, and the review also notes that the automatic high-beam headlights and forward-collision warning system did not perform especially well in testing.

Should I buy a 2016 Kia Sedona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary says Kia blends SUV design cues with minivan practicality, and the top SXL can feel luxury-like.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of style, practicality, and current market value, the 2016 is a solid place to focus. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye out for well-kept lower-trim examples, since the market still has enough inventory to let you compare condition and equipment before committing.
