At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport's resale value?

The current average of $9,903 sits slightly below last year's $11,262.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you choose a clean, well-kept example, you may have a better chance of limiting further value loss. Strong demand for affordable, comfortable SUVs can also help support used-market interest over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $11,054, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $9,903 average.
• It adds a more polished, well-rounded package with broader appeal and a family-friendly feel.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2016 if your priority is value, because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you want a newer-feeling alternative and can stretch your budget, the 2017 is the better secondary path.
