Is the 2016 Hyundai Genesis a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the 2016 Hyundai Genesis backs that up with a luxury-sedan value proposition centered on upscale features without a premium-brand price tag. It offers generous standard equipment, including navigation, Bluetooth, heated front seats, and push-button start, plus available features like a head-up display and a premium audio system. That makes it a smart fit if you want a well-equipped midsize luxury sedan with a lot of content for the money. 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Genesis reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Hyundai Genesis was designed as a more refined second-generation model, with a new chassis, updated infotainment, and overhauled suspension aimed at improving everyday usability. Its standard eight-speed automatic and available all-wheel drive on V6 models add to its practical appeal, while the feature-rich cabin suggests a car built to feel substantial over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear from prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Hyundai Genesis?

At 49.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s luxury features and electronics work as intended. Because this model was positioned as a feature-rich sedan, you’ll want to make sure the condition matches the equipment level you’re paying for.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 250 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.88% compared with last year.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Genesis's resale value?

The current average of $13,034 sits slightly below last year's $13,283.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that well-kept examples should still attract interest, but pricing competitively will matter. A clean history and strong condition will be especially important if you want to stand out in a market with plenty of comparable listings.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Genesis or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,174, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,034 average.
• It feels more composed and distinctive than earlier versions.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and satisfaction, the 2016 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly alternative and may be worth a closer look.
