CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Honda Accord
overall

Summary
With 2,247 currently listed for sale and an average price of $14,439.00, 26.7% of 2016 Honda Accords for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Honda Accord 4.38 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
Buying a 2016 Honda Accord is a good hedge against unanticipated expenses. Honda also made a number of improvements to the 2016 Accord, which helped make the popular family sedan better in several ways. In most respects, it remains a terrific automobile, and that broad appeal is a big part of what makes it distinctive.
At the same time, the car is not without flaws. The available summary notes that numerous small oversights remain and can create a steady, underlying thrum of aggravation, so the Accord’s strengths are balanced by some persistent annoyances. Even so, its combination of overall competence and the sense that it can help buyers avoid surprise costs gives the 2016 Honda Accord a practical, reassuring character.

The car had two bullet holes. One on the passenger side and one on the hood. It also had water spots and apparent water damage inside as evidenced by the rust to the seat tracks and numerous water stains in the seats. This car should not have been on the lot for sale.

My 2016 Honda Accord is a bad ass & a show stopper vehicle. I swear I am in love with my car aka Martha. The features such as the sport shift gears adds that Fast & Furious Vin Diesel speed and makes the drive more exciting. The paddle shifters are pretty neat and adds that tork speed as well. Honestly, the ovreally value of my car was well worth it, compared to the other sport cars I was seeking to potentially purchase. Honda was affordable and just as awesome with its features, cost and body style. I would compare my car to the BMW 4 Series. I love my Honda Accord Sport,.. And I get so man compliments on her..

Generally — the 2016 Honda Accord earns a 4.38/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal with some real tradeoffs. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.
Drivers consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and impressive gas mileage, and they also value the safety features and interior quality. In practical terms, that lines up with the Accord’s role as a family sedan that aims to be easy to live with and reassuring for everyday use.
The market also shows 28.1% of listings as good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to reliability, dependable transportation, and trouble-free ownership as recurring strengths, while the expert evaluation describes it as a good hedge against unanticipated expenses and notes favorable reliability ratings.
The powertrain is described as refined and efficient, which supports the sense that this is a car you can count on for regular use. Honda also frames the model as affordable to own thanks to favorable reliability and low insurance costs, and the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that individual cars may have accumulated wear or quality issues, so condition matters a lot more than the badge alone.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Accord?
At 45.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision. Focus on bodywork quality, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since those are the kinds of issues that can hide behind a clean-looking listing. It also makes sense to verify that the equipment level matches the trim you want, because some useful features are not standard on every version.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the most basic version, and it lacks the touchscreen infotainment setup found on EX, EX-L, and Touring models. It also does not get LaneWatch, which is reserved for higher trims.
- Powertrain: Most models use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, with the Sport getting a slightly stronger tune. If you want the V6, you need to shop the EX-L or Touring, and the V6 delivers much stronger passing power than the four-cylinder.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, road-departure prevention, and adaptive cruise control. It is standard on Touring and available on every version, but you cannot pair it with the manual transmission.
- Infotainment: Higher trims get a 7-inch touchscreen with HondaLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth streaming audio, text-messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora access. The system is not on LX and Sport.
- Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder is described as refined and efficient, and the Accord Touring returned better than 34 mpg on the open road. The test loop average was 24.6 mpg, versus an official combined rating of 25 mpg.
Which 2016 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2016 Honda Accord is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The LX keeps costs down, but it misses the touchscreen infotainment system and does not include LaneWatch.
- Sweet-spot trim: The EX is the best balance for many shoppers because it adds the touchscreen infotainment setup, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and LaneWatch.
- Premium/top trim: The Touring is the most fully equipped choice, with the V6, standard Honda Sensing, and the most upscale feature set.
- Off-road trim: Not applicable for this sedan.
Honda Sensing is standard on Touring and available across the lineup, but you cannot combine it with the manual transmission.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Accord?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting huge discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,283 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.40% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 45.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,148.87, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $14,457 sits slightly below last year's $14,813.
That kind of softening suggests the market is giving buyers a bit more leverage today than it was a year ago. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be able to limit depreciation pressure later. The Accord’s broad appeal and reputation for value should help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on trim, mileage, and condition.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Honda Accord safe?
Except for four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection as assigned by the federal government, the Accord earns top marks in every other assessment performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, road-departure prevention, and adaptive cruise control. It is available on every version of the Accord, but you cannot combine it with the manual transmission.
The Accord also comes with a standard reversing camera with three viewpoints, including a 180-degree view behind the car. One caveat is that rear cross-traffic alert and a traditional blind-spot warning system are not part of the package, and LaneWatch only monitors the right-side blind spot on EX, EX-L, and Touring models.
Should I buy a 2016 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 45.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.40% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Honda’s 2016 updates improve the Accord while adding Honda Sensing availability across the lineup.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,386, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,457 average.
- It is exceptionally well-engineered and built to provide dependable service for many years.
The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year improvements and a broader set of safety and tech options, the 2016 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly path and still brings strong core strengths.
