How much does the 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD cost?

There are 697 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its power, reliability, and luxurious features, and they also highlight its smooth ride and excellent performance for towing and hauling. That makes it a strong fit if you want a heavy-duty truck that still feels comfortable and upscale for daily use or work duties. With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary also emphasizes reliability, along with power and a smooth ride, which suggests many owners feel confident depending on it over time. That said, used heavy-duty trucks can accumulate wear quickly, so your long-term ownership risk depends heavily on maintenance history and how hard the truck was worked.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can screen for accidents, title issues, and repeated ownership changes. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on transmission behavior, electrical systems, and infotainment operation, since those are the kinds of areas that can matter most on a used heavy-duty truck. You should also pay close attention to body condition, panel alignment, paint quality, and rust, because those details can reveal how well the truck was cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 697 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,857, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $31,857 sits slightly below last year's $34,029.

That decline suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy a well-kept example and avoid overpaying, because trucks purchased near the lower end of the range are easier to move later. Strong condition, clean history, and desirable equipment should matter more if you want to protect value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, a premium feel, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room, the 2016 is a sensible primary choice. If your top priority is stretching your budget, you should also compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained truck you can find rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
