How much does the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.68% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,522 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its comfort, features, and smooth ride, and many also like the upscale Denali trim and thoughtful design touches. It can also fit well if you want a full-size pickup that feels more polished than basic work-truck alternatives. With 29.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to dependable day-to-day comfort and a truck that many drivers feel good about keeping over time. At the same time, some owners mention transmission and air-conditioning concerns, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the truck has aged mechanically. For long-term ownership, that means a careful inspection matters more than usual.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns before you get too far into the process. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to transmission behavior, air-conditioning performance, and overall wear. You should also focus on condition details that affect long-term ownership, since this truck’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,522 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.68% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,342, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $20,347 sits slightly below last year's $22,529.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless you choose a well-kept example. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot because buyers tend to reward trucks that look and drive like they were cared for. A clean, well-documented Sierra should hold up better than one with visible wear or unresolved mechanical issues.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $18,846, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $20,347 average.
• It offers a polished cabin and a practical, well-rounded full-size pickup feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping opportunity, the 2016 is the stronger primary target because pricing has eased and owner satisfaction is solid. If your budget is tighter, the 2015 is the better price-first alternative, especially if you find one in strong condition.
