CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Ford Fusion

Summary
With 1,555 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,860, 27.7% of 2016 Ford Fusions for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Ford Fusion 4.1 / 5 stars.
58.2% of 2016 Fusion models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Ford Fusion stands out as a midsize sedan that blends sharp styling, strong road manners, and a roomy cabin. Ford’s second-generation Fusion was overhauled for the 2013 model year, and by 2016 it still offered the qualities that made the car appealing in the first place: capable handling, plenty of space, and a broad range of powertrains. Buyers could choose from gas engines, hybrid versions, and available all-wheel drive, giving the Fusion a flexibility that many rivals did not match.
For 2016, the Fusion also benefited from the broader improvements Ford made during the generation. The car had a decent reliability record, and the gas models were described as the most trouble-free. The 1.5-liter EcoBoost was noted as the best-economy gas engine, returning up to 27 mpg combined, while the cabin offered 38.3 inches of rear legroom and a 16 cubic-foot trunk. Owners also tended to value the smooth ride, comfort, and generous standard equipment, though some shoppers may find the car less deluxe than its price suggests and may want to keep an eye on acceleration in certain models.

Just unhappy with the malfunctioning rearview camera on our 2016 Ford fusion titanium.. Sounds like there should be a recall for our year of 2016 and others for the Ford fusion.

The owner feedback also emphasizes reliability, trouble-free ownership, and a car that many drivers feel they can count on over time. The gas models are described as the most trouble-free, which is useful if you want a simpler used-car ownership experience. For used buyers, that suggests manageable long-term risk as long as you choose a well-kept example and verify its maintenance history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Fusion?
At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, repair quality, and signs of inconsistent wear so you can avoid paying strong money for a car with hidden issues.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Fusion?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,553 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.25% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $8,852, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $8,852 sits slightly below last year's $9,443.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a better entry point now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. A clean history and strong presentation matter more when the market is already showing softer pricing.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.1/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2016 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.25% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.1/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $8,516, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $8,852 average.
- It offers appealing styling with a distinctive, attractive presence.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around shopping case, the 2016 is the better primary target because it combines a softer price trend with solid owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If your budget is tighter, the 2015 is the better secondary path because it undercuts the 2016 on price while still delivering much of the Fusion's core appeal.
