Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Trax earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview describes it as Chevrolet’s first subcompact crossover, built to be practical, compact, and budget-friendly, with a higher driving position and useful interior space. It also emphasizes everyday usability, easy parking, and a broad feature set for the price, which makes it a sensible fit if you want a small SUV that focuses on value rather than flash. There are 27.6% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests the Trax’s appeal comes from its practical packaging, compact footprint, and straightforward mechanical setup rather than complexity. For used buyers, that usually means your biggest long-term ownership risk is less about performance and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by age or heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Trax?

At 57.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past repair, then confirm that the interior features and electronics work as expected. Because this model is positioned as a budget-friendly crossover, condition matters a lot when you’re deciding whether a lower price is actually a good value.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Trax?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 843 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.45% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,549, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $8,549 sits slightly below last year's $9,042.

That price movement suggests the Trax has softened enough to create a more buyer-friendly entry point, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $8,981, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,549 average.
• It adds a redesigned exterior and interior with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and are focused on value, the 2016 is the better starting point. If you can spend more for a fresher design and updated tech, the 2017 is the stronger upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2016 makes the most sense; for shoppers who want newer features, move up a year.
