Used 2016 Chevrolet Traverse for Sale nearDetroit, MI

How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Prices have softened 10.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,423 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 is a strong user rating for a used three-row SUV. The 2016 Traverse stands out for its enormous cabin, especially its third row, along with a comfortable ride and controls that are described as intuitive and easy to use. It also makes sense if you want a family hauler with lots of passenger and cargo space, plus useful capability like towing and flexible seating.

The market also shows 27.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Traverse is described as having a poor reliability record, with electrical, power steering, engine, and transmission issues among the concerns to watch for. That means the model’s strengths in space and comfort come with a real need for careful vetting before you buy.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a vehicle that needs expensive repairs if its maintenance history is incomplete or its condition has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put a pre-purchase inspection at the top of your checklist, with extra attention to electrical systems, steering behavior, engine operation, and transmission performance. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since this model’s value depends heavily on finding a well-kept example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Traverse?

This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,423 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,983, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $9,057 sits slightly below last year's $10,066.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it comes time to sell. The biggest factor will be condition, since a clean, well-maintained example should be easier to move than one with a questionable history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the Traverse’s biggest strengths — space, comfort, and family-friendly utility — the 2016 can be a smart buy as long as you prioritize condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.
