Is the 2016 Chevrolet Impala a good car?

The 2016 Chevrolet Impala stands out as a big, comfortable American sedan that emphasizes space, ride quality, and easy-to-use technology. It offers a cavernous interior, an expansive rear seat, great visibility, and an 18.8-cubic-foot trunk, which makes it especially appealing if you want a roomy family car without paying luxury-car money.

It also feels more upscale than its price tag suggests thanks to soft-touch materials, and the MyLink infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB inputs, and available navigation give it a modern, user-friendly feel. If you want a traditional full-size sedan with strong value and straightforward tech, this one fits that brief well.

28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Impala reliable?

The 2016 Chevrolet Impala is presented as a comfortable, easygoing sedan with a strong value proposition and a refined feel. Its appeal comes from the combination of space, ride quality, and user-friendly technology rather than from any flashy performance claims.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well, since condition and history matter more than the model’s broad comfort-and-value appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Impala?

At 49% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the car’s structural and cosmetic condition. Focus especially on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, and wear that suggests the car has had a harder life than the listing photos imply.

If you find a listing below $11,046, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $11,188 sits slightly below last year's $11,455.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. If you keep the car clean and well-documented, you’ll be in a better position to protect value when it’s time to sell.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.33% compared with last year.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,861, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $11,188 average.
• It offers predictable, consistent road manners.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better pick if you want the stronger overall market position and are willing to pay a bit more for it. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Impala’s core strengths.
