How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices have softened 3.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,295 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Generally — 4.38/5 from owners and 7.33/10 from experts point to a car that lands well with shoppers who want style and driving enjoyment. The Camaro’s appeal is reinforced by owner praise for its sporty design, smooth ride, powerful performance, advanced technology, and handling capabilities.

That lines up with the model’s use case as a sporty coupe for buyers who want modern hardware underneath a performance-first package. The market also shows 30.7% of listings as good or great deals, which adds to the case for shopping carefully now.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable and trouble-free for many drivers, with praise centered on its strong performance and overall satisfaction.

The expert evaluation also describes the Camaro as a fun, effective compromise between performance, efficiency, and practicality, which supports the idea that it can be a satisfying daily driver when maintained well. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical character and more about finding one that has been cared for consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Pay close attention to visibility-related wear points, interior condition, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim and package claims in the listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2LT adds push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, while the Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, with an available 3.6-liter V6 making 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque, and the SS using a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera, while the Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
• Infotainment: The Camaro uses the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, and the tech setup includes CarPlay and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo four with the 8-speed automatic returns 22 mpg city, 31 highway, 25 combined; the V6 automatic returns 19 mpg city, 28 highway, 23 combined; and the V8 SS with a manual returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, 19 combined.

Which 2016 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 3 trim levels: 2LT, SS, and 2LT V6.

Here's the short version:

• 2LT: This is the best-value choice if you want the most balanced mix of equipment and everyday livability, since it adds the comfort and tech features that make the Camaro easier to live with.
• SS: Choose this if you want the strongest straight-line performance and the V8 experience, since it brings the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 and the most serious performance character.
• 2LT V6: This is the smart middle ground if you want stronger performance than the turbo four without jumping all the way to SS pricing.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,295 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,025, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $22,500 sits slightly below last year's $23,244.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts, which help offset some of the car’s visibility challenges.

A major caveat is that the Camaro’s outward visibility is notably poor, especially because of its thick pillars and limited sight lines. That means you should treat driver-assistance features as helpful support, not a substitute for careful test-driving and parking visibility checks.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings a completely redesigned body, updated interior, and the latest infotainment tech.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $23,841, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $22,500 average.
• It emphasizes a more aggressive personality and stronger performance identity.

The bottom line: the 2016 is the better starting point if you want the newer redesign at a lower average price and with more favorable current market pricing. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year, the 2017 is the path to consider for buyers who want the freshest version and don’t mind paying extra for it.
