Is the 2016 BMW 7 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, especially for buyers who value a smooth, comfortable, trouble-free driving experience over time. The strong satisfaction score suggests many owners have been able to count on it for long-term ownership. For used buyers, that makes condition and maintenance history the main long-term ownership risks to manage carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW 7 Series?

At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury sedan where repairs can be costly. Focus on overall condition, signs of past bodywork, and whether the car’s features and electronics work as expected.

What is the 2016 BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The current average of $17,704 sits slightly below last year's $19,127.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. A softer market today can also make it easier for you to find a well-equipped example without paying peak pricing. If demand stays steady, a clean, well-kept car should remain easier to resell than one with visible wear or a questionable history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want a strong mix of value, owner satisfaction, and luxury features in a full-size sedan. If your priority is simply finding the lowest entry price, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 stands out as the better all-around choice when you want a balance of price, demand, and owner approval.
