Used 2016 Acura TLX for Sale nearSan Diego, CA

How much does the 2016 Acura TLX cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 607 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Acura TLX earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The TLX is positioned as a performance luxury sedan, so you get an upscale cabin and a clear premium identity rather than a generic midsize-sedan feel. Acura’s pitch is about balancing driving enjoyment with luxury appeal, and the expert notes suggest it can deliver that balance when the car is specified and driven the right way.

The TLX also aims to be a value play in the luxury segment, with pricing that undercuts some German rivals when similarly equipped. 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The TLX is described as a car that can feel refined, comfortable, and well-finished, with premium materials and a luxury-car ambience. The expert notes also point to a model that was engineered to be technologically advanced and enjoyable to drive, which supports the idea that it was built to be more than just basic transportation.

At the same time, the expert commentary raises concerns about brake performance under hard use and notes that the car’s promise depends on execution. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is tied less to the concept of the car and more to how well a specific example has been maintained and driven.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Acura TLX?

At 51.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven hard or shows signs of cosmetic repair. Focus on overall condition, brake feel, tire wear, and whether the cabin and controls still feel tight and well-kept.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 4-cylinder trim starts the lineup, while the V6 SH-AWD version adds more power and torque-vectoring hardware; the base car is also missing some of the more upscale equipment found on better-equipped versions.
• Powertrain: The car is available with a 4-cylinder or V6 engine, and the V6 SH-AWD setup adds stronger performance along with torque-vectoring SH-AWD and Agile Handling Assist brake torque-vectoring technology.
• Safety package: The car includes sophisticated driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies, but the safety content also notes a Marginal result for small-overlap frontal protection and a Marginal result for LATCH ease of use.
• Infotainment: The TLX does not offer Wi-Fi access or smartphone projection such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; it does offer Aha and Pandora internet radio, Siri Eyes Free, text and email reading, and AcuraLink features with the Technology Package.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 test car was rated at 25 mpg, and the expert recorded 22.8 mpg on a test loop.

Which 2016 Acura TLX trim should I buy?

The 2016 Acura TLX is offered in 2 trim levels: TLX 2.4 and TLX 3.5 SH-AWD.

Here's the short version:

• TLX 2.4: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the TLX’s luxury feel at the lowest price. It gives you the core sedan experience without the added cost of the V6 and SH-AWD hardware.
• TLX 3.5 SH-AWD: This is the better choice if you care most about performance. The V6, torque-vectoring SH-AWD, and Agile Handling Assist technology make it the more engaging version, and it’s the one that best matches Acura’s performance-luxury pitch.

The safety content also notes that the TLX’s crash performance includes a Marginal result in small-overlap frontal protection, so it’s worth paying close attention to condition and history regardless of trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Acura TLX?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 607 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,998, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Acura TLX's resale value?

The current average of $14,654 sits slightly above last year's $14,513.

That small increase suggests the TLX has held its value fairly steadily rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to a market that is still willing to pay for the car’s premium badge and feature set.

The TLX’s value story is also supported by its strong cost-effectiveness score and its positioning as a bargain relative to some premium rivals. If the car remains well maintained and presents cleanly, that should help it stay attractive to used buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX safe?

The 2016 Acura TLX earns perfect five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, but it also gets a Marginal rating for small-overlap frontal-impact protection from IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The TLX includes sophisticated driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies, but the safety writeup also flags a Marginal result for child-seat LATCH ease of use. That means you should pay close attention to how the car fits your needs if you plan to install child seats or want the reassurance of stronger crash-test performance in every category.

Should I buy a 2016 Acura TLX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 stands out for its strong cost-effectiveness and its performance-luxury identity.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,540, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,654 average.
• It blends rewarding driving dynamics with modern entertainment and safety technology.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price stability, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2016 is the cleaner pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers much of the TLX’s core appeal.

How does the 2016 Acura TLX compare to the 2016 Honda Accord?

Our experts score the 2016 Acura TLX 6.5/10 and the 2016 Honda Accord 6.8/10. The Accord edges ahead on overall expert score, while the TLX asks more money up front but offers a more premium badge and a stronger luxury focus.

The TLX has the higher average used price and a more upscale positioning, while the Accord brings lower running-cost appeal and stronger fuel economy. The TLX also has a slightly better good-and-great deal share, but the Accord has far more listings, which gives you more shopping leverage.
