Used 2016 Acura TLX for Sale nearProvidence, RI

How much does the 2016 Acura TLX cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 564 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Acura TLX earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The TLX is positioned as a performance luxury sedan, so you’re looking at a car meant to balance driving enjoyment with upscale appeal. Its cabin materials and overall refinement support that mission, and the model’s role in Acura’s broader effort to restore brand passion gives it added significance beyond basic transportation.

The market also shows 32.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The TLX is described as a bargain relative to similarly equipped luxury rivals, and its upscale interior materials and seat comfort support that value story. Its performance side is more mixed: the car can feel rewarding when driven hard, but the brakes and body control are not as convincing as the rest of the package.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the car’s promise depends heavily on condition and maintenance history, especially if you plan to drive it with any enthusiasm.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Acura TLX?

At 50.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has larger wheels, higher mileage, or signs of hard use. Focus on body condition, brake condition, and evidence of prior repairs so you can separate a clean example from one that may have been driven or repaired aggressively.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TLX is available with a 4-cylinder or V6 engine, and the SH-AWD version adds torque-vectoring capability. The base car is less visually and mechanically dramatic than the better-equipped versions, so you should pay close attention to whether the features you want are actually present.
• Powertrain: The car is offered with a 4-cylinder or a 290-hp V6, and SH-AWD versions add torque-vectoring behavior that sharpens handling. The performance story is strongest in the V6 SH-AWD setup, while the front-drive versions are tuned more for everyday comfort.
• Safety package: The TLX includes sophisticated driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technology, but the safety content also notes a Marginal result for small-overlap frontal protection and a Marginal result for LATCH ease of use.
• Infotainment: The TLX does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It does include a dual-screen setup, Bluetooth, Aha and Pandora internet radio, Siri Eyes Free compatibility, text and email reading, and, with the Technology Package, navigation and a 10-speaker premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle was rated at 25 mpg, and the expert observed 22.8 mpg on a test loop.

Which 2016 Acura TLX trim should I buy?

The 2016 Acura TLX is offered in 2 trim levels: TLX 2.4 and TLX 3.5 SH-AWD.

Here's the short version:

• TLX 2.4: This is the more affordable entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the TLX’s upscale cabin and value story without stretching for the V6. It’s the trim to consider if you care more about price and everyday comfort than maximum performance.
• TLX 3.5 SH-AWD: This is the best-value choice if you want the TLX to feel like the performance luxury sedan Acura intended. The V6, SH-AWD, and handling hardware make it the more rewarding version to drive, especially if you want the strongest version of the car’s personality.

The safety content also notes a Marginal result for small-overlap frontal protection, so you should weigh that carefully no matter which trim you choose.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Acura TLX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop, compare, and wait for the right listing.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 564 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,998, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Acura TLX's resale value?

The current average of $14,736 sits slightly below last year's $14,863.

That small decline suggests the TLX has been holding value fairly steadily rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of movement usually points to a market that is stable enough to support predictable pricing, especially if your car is clean and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX safe?

The 2016 Acura TLX earns five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, but it also receives a Marginal rating from the IIHS for small-overlap frontal protection.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The TLX’s driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technology is described as sophisticated, but the safety content also flags a Marginal result for child-seat LATCH ease of use. That means you should not assume the car’s overall safety story is flawless just because its federal crash-test results are strong.

Should I buy a 2016 Acura TLX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 stands out for its performance-luxury identity and its strong cost-effectiveness score.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,651, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,736 average.
• It blends rewarding driving dynamics with modern entertainment and safety technology.

The bottom line: Choose the 2016 if you want the current-year market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is saving money first, the 2015 is the better value play, especially if you find a clean example with the equipment you want.
