Used 2016 Acura RDX for Sale nearNew Haven, CT

How much does the 2016 Acura RDX cost?

Prices have softened 4.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 742 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Acura RDX earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Acura positions this RDX as a practical premium 5-passenger crossover SUV with a broader set of upgrades than a simple cosmetic refresh. The update brings revised hardware, added technology, and freshened styling, so you’re looking at a model year that was meant to feel meaningfully improved rather than lightly revised.

The market also shows 36.7% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there’s still room to shop carefully and find value.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Acura describes this RDX as expected to be reliable, expected to hold its value well, and expected to be relatively affordable to own over time. The upgraded 3.5-liter V6 is also presented as more powerful and more fuel-efficient than the prior version, which supports the case for durable everyday use. Premium fuel is recommended for the V6, but it isn’t required.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle’s maintenance history is clean and that the upgraded powertrain and electronics have aged well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Acura RDX?

At 59.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with prior bodywork. Pay close attention to how the powertrain, infotainment, and driver-assistance features operate in real-world use, since this model year added more technology and safety equipment than a simple refresh.

Key things to evaluate:

• Powertrain: The RDX uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 279 horsepower, a 6-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive standard with all-wheel drive available. Acura says the engine is more powerful and more fuel-efficient than the prior version, and Variable Cylinder Management helps efficiency by shutting down cylinders during light-load driving.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch Plus adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Technology and Advance packages also add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The RDX uses a dual-screen infotainment setup, with the lower screen dedicated to radio and media and the upper screen handling the rest of the system. The system includes navigation with real-time traffic data, and pairing and streaming are described as easy.
• Fuel efficiency: The RDX is rated at 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined with AWD. Acura also says the V6 is rated to return up to 29 mpg on the highway.

Which 2016 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2016 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, AcuraWatch, Technology, and Advance.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point if you want the RDX’s V6 power, standard 6-speed automatic, and core luxury crossover formula without moving up the package ladder. It gives you the fundamental update to the model year, but it leaves out the added driver-assistance and convenience content found higher up.
• AcuraWatch: This is the best-value trim if you want the most important safety and driver-assistance upgrades without stretching to the top packages. It adds AcuraWatch Plus, which brings adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.
• Technology: This trim makes sense if you want a more complete premium experience and the added blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. It also builds on the AcuraWatch content, so it’s the better pick if you want more confidence features and a richer equipment mix.
• Advance: This is the most fully equipped version and includes AcuraWatch Plus. It also gets blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, and the review notes that it adds every factory option to the RDX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Acura RDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 742 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,362, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $14,362 sits slightly below last year's $15,086.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the RDX is still positioned as a premium crossover with strong owner satisfaction, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. A clean history and desirable equipment will matter more if you want to protect value later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX safe?

The 2016 Acura RDX earns an overall five-star crash-test rating from the federal government, with five-star ratings in each collision assessment and a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch Plus adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Technology and Advance packages also add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. The review notes that the lane-departure warning system was less accurate, and Acura allows you to turn off the lane-keeping assist and other alerts if you prefer.

Should I buy a 2016 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• For 2016, Acura gives the RDX a thorough update, upgrading the powertrain, enhancing vehicle safety, installing new infotainment technologies, and freshening the styling.

The bottom line: If you want the updated version of this RDX with stronger safety, better tech, and a more refined powertrain, the 2016 is the right target. If you’re mainly shopping on price, you can still find value in this year, but you should be especially selective about condition and history so you don’t give back the savings later.
