Summary
With 703 currently listed for sale and an average price of $14,667.00, 31.2% of 2016 Acura RDXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Acura RDX 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
Perhaps the most important changes to the 2016 Acura RDX are the ones you can’t easily see. Acura gives its 5-passenger crossover SUV a thorough update for 2016, upgrading the powertrain, enhancing vehicle safety, and installing new infotainment technologies. It also gets freshened styling, so the changes are not limited to what’s under the surface.
That combination makes the 2016 Acura RDX appealing to buyers who want a compact luxury crossover that feels meaningfully updated rather than lightly revised. Its strengths are the breadth of the refresh and the way Acura aimed to improve both everyday usability and overall appeal at the same time. The main limitation is simply that the update asks shoppers to be open-minded, but for those who are, the RDX is presented as worthy of consideration.

Took a while to locate a late model one that had all the electronic safety features. Adaptive Cruise Control, lane keeping assist, cross traffic’ alert, etc. They should all be standard and perhaps on new models they are. It’s a great car and we’ll prices.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX a good car?
Generally — the 4/5 user rating and 7.17/10 expert rating point to a used luxury crossover that lands in solid territory. Acura’s 2016 update brings a stronger powertrain, upgraded safety, freshened styling, and new infotainment tech, so this is the kind of model year that feels meaningfully refreshed rather than lightly tweaked.
The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
That makes the RDX especially appealing if you want a compact luxury crossover that balances everyday usability with a more premium feel. The main tradeoff is that the update asks you to be open-minded about some of its packaging and design choices.
28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2016 Acura RDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The ownership picture is favorable: the RDX is described as expected to be reliable, expected to hold its value well, and expected to be relatively affordable to own over time. Its 3.5-liter V6 is also described as refined and eager, and the engine’s efficiency features help it balance performance with reasonable fuel use for the class.
Premium fuel is recommended for the V6 engine, but it isn’t required.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained well, since a premium crossover with more equipment can become more expensive to sort out if prior care was inconsistent.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Acura RDX?
At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim and package claims in the listing.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base setup gets the refreshed styling and the dual-screen cabin, but the higher packages add more of the convenience and safety equipment that make the RDX feel more complete.
- Powertrain: The 3.5-liter V6 makes 279 horsepower, uses Variable Cylinder Management for efficiency, and pairs with a 6-speed automatic; front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available.
- Safety package: AcuraWatch Plus adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist; Technology and Advance packages add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
- Infotainment: The dual-screen setup separates media from other functions, and the system includes navigation with real-time traffic data; pairing and streaming are straightforward.
- Fuel efficiency: The AWD model is rated at 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined.
Which 2016 Acura RDX trim should I buy?
The 2016 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, AcuraWatch, Technology, Advance.
Here's the short version:
- Base: This is the entry point if you want the refreshed RDX at the lowest cost, but it leaves out some of the convenience and driver-assistance content that makes the higher trims easier to recommend.
- AcuraWatch: This is the best-value trim if you want the core safety upgrade, since it adds the driver-assistance suite without pushing you all the way to the pricier packages.
- Technology: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it layers in more of the premium equipment and also unlocks additional safety content, making it the most balanced choice for everyday use.
- Advance: This is the most fully equipped version, and it suits you if you want the most features bundled together and are willing to pay for them.
The safety-package trim note is simple: AcuraWatch Plus is included with the Advance package, while Technology and Advance also add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Acura RDX?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 712 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 55.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,587.85, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Acura RDX's resale value?
The current average of $14,722 sits slightly below last year's $15,713.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your best protection is buying well and keeping the vehicle in strong condition. A well-kept RDX with desirable equipment should still have a reasonable audience among shoppers looking for a premium compact crossover.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Acura RDX safe?
earns a five-star overall rating from the federal government, with five-star ratings in each collision assessment and a four-star rating for rollover resistance.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
AcuraWatch Plus brings adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Technology and Advance trims add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, and Acura says the blind-spot system works for both sides of the vehicle.
One caveat is that the lane-departure warning system was less accurate in testing, so you should pay attention to how the driver-assistance features behave on a test drive.
Should I buy a 2016 Acura RDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- For 2016, Acura gives the RDX a thorough update, upgrading the powertrain, enhancing vehicle safety, and installing new infotainment technologies.
The bottom line: The 2016 RDX is the better pick if you want the refreshed version with stronger safety and tech, especially if you value a more modern-feeling used luxury crossover. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2016 stands out because the update is substantial enough to justify shopping it first.
