How much does the 2016 Acura RDX cost?

Is the 2016 Acura RDX a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Acura RDX earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, which points to a solid overall showing. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Acura positions this RDX as a 5-passenger premium crossover with a thorough update that goes beyond styling, and that matters if you want a practical luxury SUV with upgraded hardware and technology. The overview also makes clear that its appeal is strongest if you’re open-minded about its package rather than expecting a perfect fit for every shopper.

37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview and expert notes both point to a model that was updated with stronger underlying hardware, and the powertrain is described as refined and eager while also being more fuel-efficient than before. Acura also says the RDX is expected to be reliable and relatively affordable to own over time, which supports its case as a sensible used luxury crossover.

Premium fuel is recommended for the V6 engine, but it isn’t required, which helps keep day-to-day ownership a bit more flexible.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the vehicle’s condition and maintenance history match its premium positioning.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Acura RDX?

At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lower asking price. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the equipment and safety systems operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base version uses standard aluminum wheels and a simpler equipment set, while the Advance package adds every factory option and upgrades to 18-inch machined-finish wheels. If you want the most complete feature set, the Advance package is the one to target.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 279 horsepower, a 6-speed automatic, standard front-wheel drive, and available all-wheel drive. The engine is described as powerful, refined, and more fuel-efficient than the previous version.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch Plus adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Technology and Advance package models also add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The RDX uses a dual-screen setup, with the lower screen dedicated to radio and media and the upper screen handling the rest of the system. It includes navigation with real-time traffic data, and pairing and streaming are described as easy.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at up to 29 mpg on the highway, and the AWD model is rated at 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. Premium fuel is recommended, but not required.

Which 2016 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2016 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, AcuraWatch, Technology, Advance.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point if you want the RDX’s updated V6 powertrain and refreshed design without paying for extra equipment. It’s the simplest way into the model, but you give up the added driver-assistance and convenience content found higher up.
• AcuraWatch: This is the best-value choice if you want the core safety upgrade without jumping all the way to the pricier trims. It adds the AcuraWatch Plus package content, making it the smart middle ground for many used shoppers.
• Technology: Choose this if you want a more complete luxury experience and the added blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. It’s the trim that better balances equipment and value if you want more than the basics.
• Advance: This is the fully loaded version, with every factory option, adaptive cruise control, and the most complete safety and convenience content. Buy this if you want the most feature-rich RDX and are willing to pay for it.

The safety-package trim note is simple: AcuraWatch Plus is available on the standard RDX and Technology models, and it comes included with Advance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Acura RDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 739 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,579, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $14,622 sits slightly below last year's $15,190.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, that also means your best resale outcome will depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market appreciation.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX safe?

The 2016 Acura RDX earns an overall five-star crash-test rating from the federal government, with five-star ratings in each collision assessment and a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch Plus adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Technology and Advance package models also add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.

One caveat is that the lane-departure warning system was less accurate during testing, though the driver can turn off its alerts and disable lane-keeping assist if desired.

Should I buy a 2016 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• For 2016, Acura gives the RDX a thorough update, upgrading the powertrain, enhancing vehicle safety, and installing new infotainment technologies.

The bottom line: If you want the updated powertrain, stronger safety content, and refreshed tech in this model year, the 2016 RDX is the one to target. If you’re mainly shopping on price, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2016 is the better pick when you want the most meaningful update in this generation.
