Used 2015 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearPhoenix, AZ

How much does the 2015 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 1.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,086 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Generally — 4.4/5 from owners and 7.3/10 from experts point to a model that resonates with shoppers who want rugged utility. The 4Runner’s appeal centers on its off-road capability, smooth ride, comfortable seating, and strong reliability, while the overview also frames it as a serious SUV for drivers who value trail ability and cargo space. That same focus makes it less compelling if you want a family-first daily driver, but it fits well if your priorities lean toward utility and adventure. The market also shows 33.6% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback highlights strong reliability, and the expert commentary reinforces that this SUV is built to be counted on when you need it to handle rough terrain and everyday use. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to free maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles, which can help reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a rugged, high-mileage example may have seen harder use than a typical family SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota 4Runner?

At 55.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, suspension, and undercarriage. Because this model is often chosen for off-road use, condition matters as much as mileage, especially if you want a truck that still feels tight on pavement. Pay close attention to signs of trail wear, uneven tire wear, and any evidence of hard use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR5 is the entry point and comes with rear-wheel drive, while the Trail adds standard 4WD, a locking rear differential, selectable driving modes, crawl control, and Downhill Assist Control. The Limited adds leather seats, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 15-speaker JBL audio system, keyless entry with push-button start, front and rear parking sensors, and Safety Connect, while the TRD Pro adds TRD Bilstein shocks, TRD front springs, a TRD aluminum front skid plate, matte-black 17-inch wheels, and off-road tires.
• Powertrain: The 4Runner uses a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The expert notes say it feels adequate but not especially quick, and fuel economy is described as dismal.
• Safety package: Every 4Runner gets a reversing camera and Hill Start Assist Control, while 4WD models add Active Traction Control and Downhill Assist Control. Toyota reserves Safety Connect for the Limited, and the model lacks blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 6.1-inch touchscreen with navigation, upgraded stereo speakers, Entune App Suite smartphone connectivity, predictive traffic and weather, and a USB 2.0 port. The larger 7-inch screen is exclusive to the Limited.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert notes cite 18 mpg in combined driving, and the performance commentary says the test vehicle returned 16.8 mpg in real-world use.

Which 2015 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 4 trim levels: SR5, Trail, TRD Pro, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the starting point, and it makes the most sense if you want the 4Runner’s core ruggedness without paying for the more specialized hardware. It comes with rear-wheel drive, so it is the least compelling choice if off-road traction is a priority.
• Trail: This is the best-value trim for buyers who want the 4Runner’s off-road personality to come through. Standard 4WD, a locking rear differential, crawl control, selectable terrain modes, and Downhill Assist Control make it the most capability-focused mainstream choice.
• TRD Pro: This is the one to buy if you want the most aggressive off-road setup. It adds TRD Bilstein shocks, TRD front springs, a TRD skid plate, and off-road tires, so it suits you best if trail performance matters more than comfort or luxury.
• Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the most comfort and convenience. The ventilated leather seats, JBL audio, parking sensors, push-button start, and Safety Connect make it the most upscale version, though it is less focused on rough terrain than the Trail or TRD Pro.

Safety Connect is reserved for the Limited, and the model’s limited active-safety equipment is worth keeping in mind if safety tech matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,086 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,379, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $21,612 sits slightly below last year's $22,038.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, the recent decline means you should expect less upside than before, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or visible wear. Even so, the 4Runner’s reputation for strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when you eventually resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner safe?

It earns a three-star overall rating from NHTSA, and the expert safety score is 3/10.

The 4Runner comes with a standard reversing camera and Hill Start Assist Control, and 4WD models add Active Traction Control and Downhill Assist Control. Toyota also offers Safety Connect, but only on the Limited trim. The safety commentary notes the lack of blind-spot monitoring and points to the SUV’s high center of gravity as a rollover concern, so you should treat safety tech and crash performance as important tradeoffs when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 adds the TRD Pro, giving you a more focused off-road option than the prior year.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $20,194, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $21,612 average.
• It blends daily drivability with true off-road ability.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $23,785, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $21,612 average.
• It adds cell-phone navigation and more towing capacity.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of capability and current-market value, the 2015 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 can save you money while keeping the same rugged character. If you want a newer version and can spend more, the 2016 brings useful upgrades without changing the 4Runner’s core identity.

How does the 2015 Toyota 4Runner compare to the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Our experts score the 2015 Toyota 4Runner 7.3/10 and the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 8.7/10.

The 4Runner is the more specialized off-road SUV, while the Grand Cherokee offers a stronger overall expert score and better highway fuel economy. The 4Runner also has a higher average used price, but the Grand Cherokee brings more listings and a lower entry cost, which may make it easier to shop. If you want rugged trail focus, the 4Runner makes sense; if you want broader on-road appeal and more value in the used market, the Grand Cherokee is the easier recommendation.
