Is the 2015 Subaru BRZ a good car?

Yes — 4.7/5. The expert rating is 7.8/10, and the model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance. Is the 2015 Subaru BRZ reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The user feedback points to a car that feels fun, engaging, and dependable enough to earn repeat praise from owners, especially for its balanced driving character and manual-transmission appeal. The expert review also emphasizes that the BRZ has few shortcomings left to iron out, which supports the sense that it is a mature, well-sorted sports car. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about broad reliability and more about finding one that has been driven and maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Subaru BRZ?

At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important. You should start with a vehicle history report, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on crash repairs, suspension condition, and signs of hard use. Because this is a driver-focused sports car, it also makes sense to pay close attention to how the car feels on the road, not just how it looks in photos.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard trim comes well equipped with automatic climate control, HID headlights, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, SiriusXM Radio, and Bluetooth integration. The Limited adds heated seats, keyless access/start, heated mirrors, leather, a spoiler, and fog lamps.
• Powertrain: The BRZ uses a naturally aspirated 200 hp engine with a responsive power band and rear-wheel drive. It is tuned for engagement rather than straight-line speed, and the expert review notes that it is not trying to be the fastest car in a straight line.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front, side, and side-curtain airbags, antilock brakes, and defeatable traction and stability control. The safety writeup also notes that front-impact testing was the weak spot relative to the rest of the results.
• Infotainment: The standard 6.1-inch touchscreen is a key weak point, with lag and freezing called out in the expert review. Bluetooth and SiriusXM are included, but the system itself is the part you should test most carefully.
• Fuel efficiency: The BRZ is rated at 22 mpg city and 30 highway, and the expert review says it returned 24 mpg during a week of driving.

Which 2015 Subaru BRZ trim should I buy?

The 2015 Subaru BRZ is offered in 2 trim levels: standard and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Standard: This is the best-value choice if you want the BRZ’s core driving experience without paying extra for comfort upgrades. You still get the key equipment that makes the car usable day to day, including automatic climate control, HID headlights, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM Radio.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the more complete version of the BRZ. It adds heated seats, keyless access/start, heated mirrors, leather, a spoiler, and fog lamps, making it the better pick if you want more convenience and a more upscale feel.

The safety content notes standard airbags, antilock brakes, and defeatable traction and stability control, with front-impact results trailing the rest of the crash-test performance.

Is the 2015 Subaru BRZ safe?

The BRZ earns four-star ratings from NHTSA and an Acceptable result from IIHS in front impacts. It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts. Standard safety equipment includes front, side, and side-curtain airbags, antilock brakes, and defeatable traction and stability control. The main caveat is that front-impact performance trails the rest of the safety results, so you should pay close attention to crash history and repair quality on used examples.

Should I buy a 2015 Subaru BRZ or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 model adds a retuned suspension, new dampers, a sharkfin antenna, fresh exhaust tips, and a limited-edition trim.

The bottom line: The 2015 BRZ is a strong pick if you want the sharper-tuned version of this enthusiast coupe and you value balance, steering feel, and driver involvement over raw speed. If you are price-sensitive, you can still find appealing alternatives in nearby model years, but the 2015 stands out for its updated suspension tuning and the same core sports-car character that makes the BRZ special.

How does the 2015 Subaru BRZ compare to the 2015 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2015 Subaru BRZ 7.8/10 and the 2015 Ford Mustang 7.3/10. The BRZ is the better choice if you want a lighter, more communicative sports car with sharper handling and stronger fuel economy. The Mustang brings much more power and far more listings, but it gives up some of the BRZ’s balance and efficiency.
