How much does the 2015 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 5.86% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,465 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its good looks, comfort, strong performance, fuel economy, and handling. That lines up with the overview’s focus on a fun-to-drive compact crossover that feels more engaging than many rivals, even if it gives up some practicality. For shoppers who want a small SUV with personality, that combination is a big part of the appeal.

The market also shows 32.7% good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary also points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable enough to recommend, with praise centered on its strong performance, fuel economy, and overall satisfaction.

The expert evaluation adds that Mazda’s quality is there and that reliability is there, while also noting low cost of ownership expectations. It also mentions 3 years of free roadside assistance, which is a useful ownership perk if you’re comparing used options.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core mechanical promise and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by age, mileage, or neglected maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Mazda CX-5?

At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim and package claims in the listing. Because some examples have accident history, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport starts with a 6-speed manual and can require a package for Bluetooth, while Touring adds a peppier engine, a standard automatic, keyless entry, push-button ignition, an upgraded sound system, a 6-way power driver’s seat, blind-spot warning, upgraded interior trim, and dark tinted privacy glass. Grand Touring adds 19-inch aluminum wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats and side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and a premium audio system.
• Powertrain: Touring and Grand Touring models use a 184-hp, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive is optional. The driving character is lively and responsive, though the expert notes it is not especially quick.
• Safety package: Touring includes E911 emergency services connectivity and blind-spot monitoring, while Grand Touring adds rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Technology Package adds Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights, but rear cross-traffic alert is not offered.
• Infotainment: The system centers on a 5.8-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth calling and music streaming, HD Radio, satellite radio, text-messaging support, Pandora Internet radio, E911 emergency services connectivity, USB connectivity, and a reversing camera. A smartphone app is not offered, and the navigation system is described as slow and dated.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert says the EPA estimate for the front-wheel-drive Grand Touring is 27 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 24 mpg in suburban driving.

Which 2015 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it is the most stripped-down choice and can leave you wanting the Bluetooth package if you want more modern connectivity. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting point and are comfortable adding equipment selectively.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the peppier engine, a standard automatic, keyless entry, push-button ignition, blind-spot warning, and a better overall feature mix without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Grand Touring: Choose this if you want the most upscale feel, with leather upholstery, heated front seats and mirrors, dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, premium audio, and 19-inch wheels.

The Technology Package is available on Touring and Grand Touring, and it adds Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,465 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.86% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,231, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $12,498 sits slightly above last year's $11,806.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A stronger current price can help support your exit value, especially if your vehicle is well maintained and presents cleanly in photos and inspections.

The fact that prices are already above last year’s average also suggests there may be some staying power in buyer interest. If demand remains steady, a well-kept CX-5 should remain easier to move than a less desirable used crossover.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Touring model includes E911 emergency services connectivity and blind-spot monitoring, while Grand Touring adds rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Technology Package adds Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights, which gives you a more advanced safety setup if you choose a better-equipped trim.

One caveat is that rear cross-traffic alert is not offered, so you should not expect that feature even on higher trims.

Should I buy a 2015 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.86% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary says the CX-5 puts a smile on the driver’s face but needs improvements in functionality to better compete with some of the more popular compact crossover rivals.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact crossover that feels more engaging than most and you can live with some practicality tradeoffs, the 2015 CX-5 is a strong candidate. If your priority is maximum functionality and you want to be less selective about cargo and tech compromises, you may want to keep shopping other years or alternatives. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2015 still makes sense when you find a clean example near the low end of the range.
