How much does the 2015 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 4.09% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,395 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its good looks, comfort, strong performance, fuel economy, and handling. That lines up with the overview: you get a compact crossover that feels more engaging than the typical small SUV, especially if you want something enjoyable to drive without giving up everyday practicality.

The market also shows 34.6% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, with praise centered on comfort, strong performance, fuel economy, and handling. The expert evaluation also describes impressive reliability predictions and low cost of ownership, which supports the case for dependable day-to-day use.

The ownership picture is helped by the mention of 3 years of free roadside assistance, which adds some peace of mind for used buyers. Even so, you should still budget for age-related wear and verify maintenance history carefully before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Mazda CX-5?

At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually strong. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and signs of prior bodywork so you can separate a clean, well-kept example from one that has been repaired after damage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport starts with a standard 6-speed manual transmission and lacks Bluetooth unless you add the bargain-priced package, while Touring adds a peppier engine, a standard automatic, keyless entry, push-button ignition, an upgraded sound system, a 6-way power driver's seat, blind-spot warning, upgraded interior trim, and dark tinted privacy glass. Grand Touring adds leather upholstery, heated front seats and side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and a premium audio system.
• Powertrain: Touring and Grand Touring versions use a 184-hp, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, while front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional. The automatic transmission shifts swiftly and smoothly, and the setup is tuned more for lively response than outright speed.
• Safety package: Touring includes E911 emergency services connectivity and blind-spot monitoring, while Grand Touring adds rain-sensing windshield wipers. Both Touring and Grand Touring can be upgraded with a Technology Package that adds Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights. Rear cross-traffic alert is not offered.
• Infotainment: The Bluetooth Audio Package centers on a 5.8-inch touchscreen display and adds Bluetooth calling and music streaming, HD Radio, satellite radio, text-messaging support, Pandora Internet radio, E911 emergency services connectivity, USB connectivity, and a reversing camera. A navigation system is optional, but the setup is described as slow and frustrating.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the Grand Touring with front-wheel drive should return 27 mpg in combined driving, and the expert test drive recorded 24 mpg in suburban driving.

Which 2015 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it is the most stripped-down choice because Bluetooth is not included unless you add the package. It makes sense only if you want the lowest-cost way into the CX-5 and are comfortable adding equipment selectively.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim because it adds the peppier engine, a standard automatic, keyless entry, push-button ignition, blind-spot warning, an upgraded sound system, and a power driver's seat. If you want the most balanced mix of features and everyday usability, this is the trim to target.
• Grand Touring: This is the most upscale choice, with leather upholstery, heated front seats and side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and a premium audio system. Choose it if you want the most comfort and convenience features.

The Technology Package on Touring and Grand Touring adds Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights, which is worth seeking out if safety tech matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,395 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.09% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,233, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $12,192 sits slightly above last year's $11,712.

That upward move suggests the market has remained supportive of this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A rising average price can help preserve your equity, especially if you buy at or below the current market average.

The CX-5's appeal also helps its resale story: shoppers continue to respond to its driving feel, comfort, and fuel economy. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 receives a 5-star overall crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has given it a Top Safety Pick designation.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Touring model includes E911 emergency services connectivity and blind-spot monitoring, while the Grand Touring adds rain-sensing windshield wipers. Both Touring and Grand Touring can be upgraded with a Technology Package that adds Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights.

One important caveat is that rear cross-traffic alert is not offered, so you should pay close attention to that gap if you regularly back out of crowded parking spaces.

Should I buy a 2015 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Prices are up 4.09% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Like most Mazdas, the CX-5 puts a smile on the driver’s face, but it needs improvements in functionality to better compete with some of the more popular models in the compact crossover class.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact crossover that feels more engaging than most rivals, the 2015 CX-5 is the better emotional buy. If your priority is maximum practicality and you want to compare against a broader set of nearby alternatives, you may want to keep shopping with a focus on condition, equipment, and price.

How does the 2015 Mazda CX-5 compare to the 2015 Honda CR-V?

Our experts score the 2015 Mazda CX-5 7/10 and the 2015 Honda CR-V 8.5/10.

The CX-5 is the more engaging choice, with stronger driving character and a lower average used price. The CR-V counters with more power, more listings, and a slightly better accident-free share, which may make it the easier practical pick for many shoppers.
