Is the 2015 Kia Soul a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Kia Soul earns a 4.4/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

The Soul’s appeal also comes through in its distinctive personality and practical everyday usefulness, which makes it a strong fit if you want something that feels different without giving up core utility.

The overview frames it as a practical choice with personality, surprise-and-delight upgrades, and the kind of technology and safety ratings that help it move from good to great. With 30.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding one that fits your budget well.

Is the 2015 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe the Soul as dependable in the ways that matter most for daily use, pointing to its spacious cabin, comfort, value, and good fuel economy. The expert notes also emphasize that it is loaded with value and broadly well equipped, which supports the case for trouble-free ownership when the car has been maintained properly.

The cost-effectiveness notes add that Kia’s warranty and roadside assistance programs help ownership confidence, and the model’s depreciation rating suggests it should hold value reasonably well over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a neglected example, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Soul?

At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on overall condition, because the Soul’s value proposition depends heavily on getting one that still feels well kept and complete.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The test vehicle was a Soul ! with every option possible, including leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Kia UVO eServices technology and navigation, and an upgraded Infinity premium audio system. That means lower trims may miss some of the surprise-and-delight features that make the Soul feel especially well equipped.
• Powertrain: The test car used a 164-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The notes also say more power would be nice, so you should pay attention to whether the engine feels strong enough for your driving needs.
• Safety package: The Soul includes UVO eServices features such as 911 Connect with Crash Notification, and it also offers Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score tools. The notes also say the car is unavailable with modern active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The cabin can include an 8-inch touchscreen, Kia UVO eServices, navigation, Bluetooth audio, Pandora Internet radio, Siri Eyes Free, Google Local Search, and My POI. That makes tech content a major part of the Soul’s appeal, especially in better-equipped versions.
• Fuel efficiency: The test notes cite 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, with a combined-driving average of 24.6 mpg.

Which 2015 Kia Soul trim should I buy?

The 2015 Kia Soul is offered in 1 trim level: Soul !.

Here's the short version:

Soul !: This is the fully loaded version described in the test notes, and it shows what the Soul can be when you want the most features and personality. It adds leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation and UVO eServices, premium audio, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, HID headlights, LED running lights, Smart Key entry, and push-button start. If you want the Soul at its most distinctive and best equipped, this is the one to target.

The safety notes also say the Soul lacks modern active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, so check equipment carefully if that matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Soul?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,116 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,621, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $7,845 sits slightly above last year's $7,834.

That small increase suggests the Soul has held its value fairly well rather than sliding sharply. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to steady buyer interest instead of a weakening market.

The model’s broad appeal, value reputation, and distinctive personality should continue to support demand as long as the vehicle is in good condition. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organized, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Kia Soul safe?

The 2015 Kia Soul earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Soul includes UVO eServices with 911 Connect and Crash Notification, which can automatically alert authorities after a collision if a paired smartphone is present. It also adds Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features that can be especially useful for teen drivers.

The main caveat is that the Soul is unavailable with modern active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, so you should not assume every desirable driver-assistance feature is present. That makes trim and equipment verification especially important if safety tech is a priority.

Should I buy a 2015 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its personality, value, and well-rounded mix of tech and safety ratings.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $6,841, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $7,845 average.
• It blends everyday usefulness with personality and appeals especially to younger drivers.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2015 is the better primary choice because it combines stable pricing, solid owner satisfaction, and a well-equipped feel. If your main goal is to spend less up front, the 2014 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers much of the Soul’s core appeal.

How does the 2015 Kia Soul compare to the 2015 Honda Fit?

Our experts score the 2015 Kia Soul 8/10 and the 2015 Honda Fit 8.5/10.

The Soul gives you a lower average used price and more listings to shop, while the Fit brings stronger fuel economy and a slightly higher expert score. If you care most about value, personality, and a broader pool of used examples, the Soul has the edge; if efficiency is your top priority, the Fit is the better pick.
