overall

Summary
With 1,176 currently listed for sale and an average price of $7,854, 30.4% of 2015 Kia Soul listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Kia Soul 4.36 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Kia Soul stands out because it delivers a lot of what most drivers need while still feeling distinctive and full of personality. It is described as a pretty terrific little thingamabob on wheels, and that sense of character is part of its appeal. The Soul also brings surprise-and-delight upgrades that many buyers may want, along with the technology, safety ratings, and quality scores that help it move from good to great.
At the same time, it is not presented as perfect. More power would be nice, and additional trunk space and a couple of extra safety features are also mentioned as desirable improvements. Even so, those are framed as nitpicks against a car that is loaded with value and broadly well equipped, which makes the 2015 Kia Soul appealing to shoppers who want something practical without giving up personality.

Super smooth ride, responsive steering, seats great for back problems, large interior and cool edgy look! I purchased the 2015 Kia Soul + and so far the only down sides are rear passenger side blind spot, and not quick to accelerate. Best purchase Ive ever made! Truly an amazing car!

At 57.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and safety features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The loaded test vehicle shows how much equipment the Soul can add, including leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, premium audio, LED interior lighting, HID headlights, LED running lights, Smart Key entry, push-button start, a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, and ventilated front seats. Base trims will feel much simpler, so you should compare feature content carefully if you want the nicer cabin and convenience upgrades.
- Powertrain: The test car uses a 164-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The notes also say the Soul could use more power, so you should pay attention to how the car drives on hills and during highway merging.
- Safety package: The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, plus Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features. The notes also say a reversing camera is available, but blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert is not offered, so that gap matters if you want more modern driver assistance.
- Infotainment: The test car has an 8-inch touchscreen, Kia UVO eServices, navigation, Bluetooth audio, Pandora internet radio support, Siri Eyes Free, Google Local Search, and My POI. The system also supports smartphone-linked emergency calling and crash notification, which adds useful connected features.
- Fuel efficiency: The Soul averaged 24.6 mpg in combined driving, with official estimates of 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.
Which 2015 Kia Soul trim should I buy?
The 2015 Kia Soul is offered in 1 trim level: !.
Here's the short version:
The ! trim is the one shown in the test-drive notes, and it represents the most feature-rich version described here. It adds the kind of comfort and tech equipment that makes the Soul feel much more upscale, including the 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, premium audio, leather, heated and ventilated seats, and the panoramic sunroof. If you want the Soul’s personality plus the most equipment, this is the version that best shows what the model can do.
The safety content also notes that the Soul includes 911 Connect and teen-driver alerts, but it lacks blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Soul?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.
- Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,160 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 57.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,622, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Kia Soul's resale value?
The current average of $7,878 sits slightly above last year's $7,857.
That small increase suggests the Soul has held its value fairly well rather than swinging sharply up or down. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to a market that is predictable and easier to price against.
The model’s value-focused reputation and broad appeal should continue to support demand, especially among shoppers who want space, personality, and reasonable ownership costs. If you keep the car clean, well maintained, and accident-free, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul safe?
The 2015 Kia Soul earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, which can automatically alert emergency responders after a collision if a paired smartphone is present. It also adds Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features that can be especially useful for teen drivers.
One important caveat is that the Soul lacks modern active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, aside from a reversing camera. That means you should not assume every used example has the driver-assistance coverage you might expect from newer rivals.
Should I buy a 2015 Kia Soul or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 57.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2015 stands out for its personality, value, and well-equipped feel, with expert notes calling it a terrific car brimming with personality and loaded with value.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $6,879, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $7,878 average.
- The 2014 is a practical, personality-filled daily driver with strong usefulness and broad appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around used-car case, the 2015 is the better primary pick because it combines stable pricing, solid owner satisfaction, and a strong value story. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 can still make sense as a lower-cost alternative, especially if you find one in clean condition.
How does the 2015 Kia Soul compare to the 2015 Honda Fit?
Our experts score the 2015 Kia Soul 8/10 and the 2015 Honda Fit 8.5/10.
The Soul gives you a lower average used price and a much larger pool of listings, which can make shopping easier. The Fit counters with better fuel economy and a slightly stronger expert score, so it may suit you better if efficiency matters most. If you want more personality and value for the money, the Soul is compelling; if you want the more efficient choice, the Fit has the edge.
