Summary
With 901 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,589.00, 28.1% of 2015 Kia Sorentos for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Kia Sorento 4.75 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Kia Sorento stands out as an attractive, well-equipped crossover that reflects Kia’s emphasis on stylish vehicles, useful features, and fair pricing. It is the kind of SUV that can appeal to buyers who want a practical family vehicle without giving up a more polished look and a generous equipment list.
At the same time, the 2015 Kia Sorento is not without drawbacks. Its fuel economy is a weak point, and its performance in a critical new crash-test evaluation is also disappointing. Taken together, those shortcomings make it clear that while the Sorento has plenty to recommend it, it was in need of a total makeover to stay competitive in its segment.

Great car, has most features . The only one I wish it had that is not there is electric seats. Other than that I’m very satisfied.

So far, I am satisfied with the Sorento. Was also ,looking at the Dodge Journey, and decided on Sorento. Is quiet, takes hills nicely, especially like hil- assist. Only drawback is some features advertised were missing,i.e. prower heated side mirrors and auto daytime running lights. Otherwise, felt I got a good value.

How much does the 2015 Kia Sorento cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $8,651 |
| Year-Round Low | $8,520.96 |
| Year-Round High | $9,812.06 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $9,810 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.82% |
Prices have softened 11.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 922 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $8,520.96, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2015 Kia Sorento a good car?
Yes — the 2015 Kia Sorento earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, and reliable performance. The Sorento also fits well if you want a practical family crossover with a polished look and a generous equipment list.
That said, the overview points to a weak fuel-economy showing and a disappointing crash-test result, so it makes the most sense if you value comfort, features, and everyday usefulness over efficiency or the latest safety benchmark. 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Kia Sorento reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a reliable, smooth, and trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting dependable performance and a vehicle they feel good about keeping over time. The expert review reinforces that the Sorento is built to be a practical family crossover that can handle daily use with confidence.
You should still watch for signs of wear, because this model year’s value story is mixed and long-term ownership costs may be less forgiving than the purchase price suggests.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Sorento?
At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, evidence of prior repairs, and whether the equipment on the car matches what was advertised.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the base setup, while the EX adds a V6, larger 18-inch wheels, LED running lights, fog lights, roof rails, rear parking-assist sensors, leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear side-window sunshades, UVO eServices, keyless engine start, a reversing camera, and blind-spot detection. The SX adds 19-inch wheels, power folding side mirrors, a power tailgate, LED taillights, upgraded trim, navigation, premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, rear air conditioning, and a 115-volt outlet. The SX Limited adds chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
- Powertrain: A 4-cylinder engine comes standard on the LX, while a V6 is optional there and standard on the other trims. The V6 is described as delivering pleasing thrust, and the 6-speed automatic is tuned for quick passing and freeway merges. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available.
- Safety package: The blind-spot detection system is standard on SX and Limited trims, while EX models get a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors. The UVO eServices system also includes 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist.
- Infotainment: UVO is responsive and intuitive, and it supports voice commands, smartphone syncing, eServices information, and entertainment features. It also includes Parking Minder, phone-to-navigation destination sending, and geo-fencing tools for parents.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites about 18 mpg in city driving and 25 mpg on the highway, and notes a disappointing 18.1-mpg combined result in testing.
Which 2015 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?
The 2015 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, SX and SX Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the least expensive entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Sorento’s core space and utility without paying for the higher-trim equipment. It starts with the standard 4-cylinder engine, with a V6 available if you want more power.
- EX: This is the best-value trim if you want the Sorento to feel properly equipped. You get the standard V6 plus leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a reversing camera, rear parking-assist sensors, and blind-spot detection.
- SX: Choose this if you want the more upscale equipment set, including 19-inch wheels, a power tailgate, navigation, premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, rear air conditioning, and a 115-volt outlet.
- SX Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The safety package is strongest on the higher trims, since blind-spot detection is standard on SX and Limited models.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Sorento?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.
- Deal availability: 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 922 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.82% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 60.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $8,520.96, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Kia Sorento's resale value?
The current average of $8,651 sits slightly below last year's $9,810.
That softer pricing suggests the Sorento has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help if you buy now and plan to keep it for a while. For a future seller, the current market indicates that value may be steadier than it was a year ago, but not especially strong.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Kia Sorento safe?
The 2015 Kia Sorento earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The higher trims add useful safety tech, including a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors on EX models, plus blind-spot detection on SX and Limited trims. The UVO eServices system also includes 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist, which can automatically contact authorities after a crash if a paired smartphone is in the vehicle.
The main caution is the crash-test context: the overview and expert review both point to a disappointing result in a critical new crash-test evaluation, so you should pay close attention to the vehicle’s condition and safety equipment when shopping used.
Should I buy a 2015 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.82% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2015 offers a well-equipped crossover with strong tech and a polished feature set, but it also carries fuel-economy and crash-test drawbacks.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $7,904, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,651 average.
- It emphasizes style, performance, safety, and substance.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $10,023, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,651 average.
- It brings an all-new design, a more upscale feel, and a turbocharged engine option.
The bottom line: If you want the lowest-risk value play, the 2015 makes sense when you find a clean, well-priced example with the right equipment. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2014 can save you money, while the 2016 is the better path if you want the newer redesign and can stretch your budget.
