How much does the 2015 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 8.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 938 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Kia Sorento earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, and reliable performance. That lines up with the Sorento’s appeal as a well-equipped crossover that gives you a polished look and a lot of features for the money. It also fits buyers who want a family-friendly SUV without stepping into a pricier segment.

With 30.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliable performance, and the expert evaluation also notes that Kia’s warranty and roadside-assistance plan add to the ownership appeal. The Sorento’s smooth ride and everyday usability reinforce that dependable, easy-to-live-with character.

At the same time, the expert assessment flags average quality, reliability, and depreciation concerns, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Sorento?

At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lower asking price. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, and any evidence that advertised equipment may be missing. Because some owners have reported missing features, it’s worth confirming that the vehicle actually has the equipment listed in the ad.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sorento comes in LX, EX, SX and SX Limited. The LX is nicely equipped, while the EX adds a V6, larger wheels, LED running lights, fog lights, roof rails, rear parking-assist sensors, leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, rear side-window sunshades, UVO eServices, keyless start, a reversing camera and blind-spot detection. The SX adds 19-inch wheels, power-folding mirrors, a power tailgate, LED taillights, navigation, premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, rear air conditioning and a 115-volt outlet. The SX Limited adds chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, Nappa leather, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel.
• Powertrain: A 4-cylinder engine comes standard on the LX, while a V6 is optional there and standard on the other trims. The V6 is a 290-hp, 3.3-liter unit paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive optional. The setup is tuned more for everyday driving than rugged trail use.
• Safety package: The blind-spot detection system is included on SX and Limited trims, while EX models get a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors. The UVO eServices system also includes 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist.
• Infotainment: UVO is responsive and intuitive, with smartphone syncing, voice commands, Parking Minder, phone-to-navigation destination sending, and geo-fencing features. The content does not specify a screen size or wireless smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation describes the Sorento’s fuel economy as disappointing, and the performance section cites an 18.1-mpg combined average in testing. EPA figures in the same section indicate about 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

Which 2015 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2015 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, SX and SX Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it’s the trim to consider if you want the Sorento’s basic value proposition without paying for extras. It’s nicely equipped, but you’ll want to compare its standard equipment carefully against the higher trims because several useful features arrive later in the lineup.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the V6, leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, rear parking-assist sensors, a reversing camera and blind-spot detection. If you want the Sorento to feel properly equipped without jumping to the pricier trims, this is the one to focus on.
• SX: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel, with 19-inch wheels, a power tailgate, navigation, premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and rear air conditioning. It’s the right pick if comfort and convenience matter more than keeping the purchase price down.
• SX Limited: This is the top trim, adding chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, Nappa leather, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. It suits you if you want the most luxurious version of the Sorento and are willing to pay for it.

The blind-spot detection system is included on SX and Limited trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Sorento?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 938 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,270, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $8,552 sits slightly below last year's $9,383.

That decline suggests the Sorento has softened in the market, which can work against future resale if you buy at the wrong price. For a seller, the key is to avoid overpaying now, because a lower entry price gives you more room to preserve value later. The strongest listings will be the ones with clean history, strong equipment, and clear maintenance records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2015 Kia Sorento earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia equips higher trims with useful driver-assistance features, including a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors on EX models, plus blind-spot detection on SX and Limited trims. The UVO eServices system also adds 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist, which can automatically contact authorities after a crash if a paired smartphone is in the vehicle.

The main caution is that the IIHS had not yet rated this model year, and the prior model’s small-overlap frontal-offset result was poor, which is worth keeping in mind when you evaluate used examples.

Should I buy a 2015 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 offers a polished, well-equipped crossover with strong tech and a broad trim range.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,932, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,552 average.
• It emphasizes style, performance, safety and substance, with better real-world fuel economy.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,856, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,552 average.
• It brings an all-new design, a more upscale cabin and a turbocharged engine option.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, equipment and available inventory, the 2015 is the practical choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2014 may be the better value; if you want a more modern-feeling Sorento and can spend more, the 2016 is the stronger upgrade path.
