How much does the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 6.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,043 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 4.2/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its strong performance, roomy interior, and impressive features, and they also like how it works as both a work and family vehicle. The Sierra’s smart cabin and mature exterior fit buyers who want a full-size pickup with more polish than a basic work truck. Even so, some shoppers may still want better fuel economy.

With 30.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels strong, dependable, and versatile, with many drivers describing it as a vehicle they can count on for both work and family use. The expert evaluation also emphasizes commonsense improvements and creature comforts, which supports the idea that the Sierra is built to be a practical long-term companion. A standard, 2-year scheduled maintenance program covers the truck for up to 24,000 miles.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some examples may have mechanical issues, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on signs of wear that could affect daily use, towing, or long-term ownership costs. Because this model year has a meaningful share of accident history in the market, condition matters as much as price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra comes in one regular cab configuration and two 4-door cab options, with the Regular cab available with either a standard 6-foot-6-inch box or an extended 8-foot box. A Double cab comes only with a 6-foot-6-inch box, while Crew cabs can be paired with either a 6-foot-6-inch or shorter 5-foot-8-inch box.
• Powertrain: The truck is powered by a trio of motors, including a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8. The V6 and 5.3-liter V8 use a 6-speed gearbox, while the 6.2-liter comes with an 8-speed transmission.
• Safety package: Optional safety systems include lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, and active seat rumbling. A rear backup camera is also highlighted as especially useful.
• Infotainment: The truck includes an 8-inch touchscreen and IntelliLink, and it can be fitted with a 4G/LTE wireless hotspot connection that comes with 3GB of free data before buyers must pay for the feature.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 with a 4-wheel-drive powertrain is rated at around 17 mpg city and 22 highway, the 5.3-liter V8 with 4WD is rated at 16/22, and the 6.2-liter V8 with 4WD is rated at 14/20.

Which 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: Sierra, SLE, SLT.

Here's the short version:

• Sierra: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Sierra experience with the 4.3-liter V6 standard. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and can live without the extra equipment found higher up.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds access to the more popular 5.3-liter V8 while keeping the truck’s practical, well-equipped character. If you want a balanced mix of capability and features, this is the trim to focus on.
• SLT: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale feel and are more likely to want the richer equipment and available comfort features described in the cabin and tech coverage. It suits buyers who want the Sierra to feel closer to a premium daily driver.

The safety package is optional rather than standard, so make sure the truck you’re considering has the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,043 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,652, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,652 sits slightly below last year's $19,908.

That price movement suggests the truck has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays competitive. The current range still leaves room for value retention if you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition. Trucks with broad appeal and strong feature content tend to stay easier to resell than stripped-down alternatives.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The Sierra 1500 earned a Good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, including a Good rating in the moderate front overlap crash test. It also earned a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, including five-star ratings for frontal and side crashes and a four-star rating for rollover.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The available driver-assistance features include lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, and active seat rumbling, and the rear backup camera is called out as especially helpful for a tall truck like this. The main caveat is that the safety tech is optional, so you should verify that a used example has the equipment you want.

Should I buy a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 Sierra 1500 stands out for its smart interior, mature exterior, and three-powertrain flexibility.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $16,349, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $18,652 average.
• It was described as a redesigned full-size pickup that felt more powerful, more comfortable, and more technologically sophisticated.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping target, the 2015 is the stronger pick because it combines softer pricing with solid owner satisfaction and a well-equipped cabin. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the better value play.

How does the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 compare to the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Our experts score the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 7.3/10 and the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 7.5/10. The Sierra costs a bit more on average, but it also has a slightly stronger good-and-great-deal share and a better accident-free share. The Silverado is the cheaper used buy and has more listings, so it may give you more room to shop for the right truck.
