How much does the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 6.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,116 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 4.2/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its strong performance, roomy interior, and useful features, and many also like how it works as both a work truck and a family vehicle. The overview points to a polished, commonsense full-size pickup with a smart interior and useful comfort and convenience features, which fits buyers who want capability without a bare-bones feel. Even so, fuel economy remains a recurring concern, so it makes the most sense if you value versatility and cabin quality more than maximum efficiency.

With 28.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a truck that many drivers find dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, with strong performance and versatility supporting that impression. The expert notes also describe a well-rounded pickup with commonsense improvements and creature comforts, which reinforces the sense that it is built to handle regular ownership well. A standard 2-year scheduled maintenance program covering up to 24,000 miles adds some early ownership peace of mind.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some listings may have hidden mechanical issues, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, frame condition, and signs of prior repair. Because this truck is often used for work and towing, pay close attention to wear items, drivetrain behavior, and any evidence of hard use. It also helps to compare trim equipment carefully so you know whether the truck has the comfort and tech features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra comes in one regular cab configuration and two 4-door cab options, with different bed lengths depending on cab style. The interior is function-focused, with three USB charging stations, multiple power outlets, a large center console with file-folder hangers, and a spacious back seat. The Denali adds a more upscale presentation, while the base setup is more business-minded and less luxurious.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8. The V6 is the most modest choice, the 5.3-liter V8 is the middle-ground option, and the 6.2-liter V8 brings the most power but can feel like too much for some buyers. Fuel economy is a concern across the range, and the V6’s gains are described as minimal.
• Safety package: The truck includes optional lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, and active seat rumbling. A rear backup camera is also highlighted as especially useful. Some safety features are optional rather than standard, so check the exact equipment on the truck you’re considering.
• Infotainment: The Sierra uses IntelliLink, which is described as easy to navigate, and the cabin can be fitted with an 8-inch touchscreen. It also offers a 4G/LTE wireless hotspot with 3GB of free data before a paid plan is required.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4.3-liter V6 with 4WD is rated around 17 mpg city and 22 highway, the 5.3-liter V8 with 4WD is rated 16/22, and the 6.2-liter V8 with 4WD is rated 14/20.

Which 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: base Sierra, SLE, SLT.

Here's the short version:

• Sierra: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the Sierra’s core utility and function-first cabin without paying for extra equipment. It still gives you the truck’s practical interior layout and the available cab and bed flexibility, but it is the least upscale choice.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and can be paired with the 4.3-liter V6 or the 5.3-liter V8. If you want a balanced mix of capability, comfort, and equipment without jumping to the top end, this is the trim to focus on.
• SLT: This is the better pick if you want more of the Sierra’s comfort and convenience features and are willing to spend more for them. It suits buyers who care more about a polished daily-driving experience than bare-minimum truck duty.

The safety content points to optional driver-assistance features rather than a fully standard suite, so verify the exact equipment on any truck you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,116 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,846, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,846 sits slightly below last year's $20,256.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you choose a well-kept example with clean history and desirable equipment, you may have a better chance of holding value than if you buy a higher-mileage truck with visible wear. The market also appears to reward trucks that present well and have broad appeal, which favors cleaner, better-equipped trims.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a Good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, including a Good rating in the moderate front overlap crash test. It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The truck offers optional lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, and active seat rumbling, plus a rear backup camera that is especially helpful in a tall pickup. Some of those driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard, so you should confirm what is actually installed on the truck you’re considering. The safety writeup also notes that the Sierra can be distracting to drive because of its many controls and displays, which makes the camera and alert systems more valuable.

Should I buy a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It builds on the prior redesign with a smart interior, useful tech, and three powertrains.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $16,487, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $18,846 average.
• Redesigned for 2014, it brought a major step forward in comfort, tech, capability, and safety.

The bottom line: Buy the 2015 if you want the more current pricing data and a well-rounded truck with strong owner approval. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2014 is the better value play, especially if you find one in clean condition with the equipment you want.

How does the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 compare to the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Our experts score the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 7.3/10 and the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 7.5/10. The Sierra brings a more polished interior feel and a strong mix of comfort and utility, while the Silverado edges it on expert score and has a slightly lower average used price. The Sierra also has a smaller listing pool, so you may need to shop a bit harder for the right truck.
