How much does the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,124 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.18/5 user rating points to a truck that many owners like, and the expert score is 7.33/10. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners repeatedly praise the strong performance, roomy interior, and impressive features. The Sierra also gets credit for versatility as both a work and family vehicle, and the overview points to a polished, more refined feel with useful comfort and convenience features. That combination makes it a practical fit if you want a full-size pickup that does more than basic truck duty.

With 29.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.18/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that many people find dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, with strong satisfaction around its long-term usefulness. The expert notes reinforce that sense of durability by describing the Sierra as a commonsense, well-rounded pickup with a straightforward approach to ownership. A standard, 2-year scheduled maintenance program covers the truck for up to 24,000 miles.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some owners have reported mechanical issues, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing or heavy work. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin and bed, and any evidence of deferred maintenance. Because this model year has a meaningful share of accident history in the market, a clean, well-documented example is worth extra attention.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra comes in one regular cab configuration and two 4-door cab options, with the Regular cab available with either a standard 6-foot-6-inch box or an extended 8-foot box. A Double cab comes only with a 6-foot-6-inch box, while Crew cabs can be paired with either a 6-foot-6-inch or shorter 5-foot-8-inch box. The cabin is functional and spacious, with three USB charging stations, multiple power outlets, a large center console, and a roomy back seat.
• Powertrain: The truck offers a 4.3-liter V6 with 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque, a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, and a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The V6 and 5.3-liter V8 are paired with a 6-speed gearbox, while the 6.2-liter uses an 8-speed transmission. The V6 and 5.3-liter both use cylinder shutdown, but the fuel-economy gains are described as minimal.
• Safety package: The Sierra includes an optional safety suite with lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, and active seat rumbling that vibrates based on drift direction and potential impact side. A rear backup camera is also highlighted as especially useful. The safety content also notes hands-free Siri integration for iPhone owners.
• Infotainment: The truck uses IntelliLink, which is described as easy to navigate with an uncluttered interface. The cabin includes an 8-inch touchscreen, and the truck can be fitted with a 4G/LTE wireless hotspot connection that includes 3GB of free data before a paid plan is required.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4.3-liter V6 with 4WD is rated around 17 mpg city/22 highway, the 5.3-liter V8 with 4WD is rated 16/22, and the 6.2-liter V8 with 4WD is rated 14/20.

Which 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: base Sierra, SLE, SLT.

Here's the short version:

• Sierra: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Sierra formula with the 4.3-liter V6 standard. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and are comfortable with the truck’s more basic setup.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to the more popular 5.3-liter V8 while keeping the Sierra’s practical cabin and useful features. If you want a balanced mix of capability and everyday usability, this is the trim to focus on first.
• SLT: This trim also offers the 4.3-liter V6 or the 5.3-liter V8, and it suits you if you want a more upscale-feeling Sierra without jumping to the top-end Denali. It’s the better pick if you care more about comfort and features than absolute bargain pricing.

The safety content points to optional driver-assistance features rather than a fully standard suite, so check carefully for equipment on any truck you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,124 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,842, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,842 sits slightly below last year's $20,619.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also signals that future resale may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment. If you plan to sell later, a well-kept truck with strong documentation should stand out more clearly against the market. The Sierra’s broad appeal as a work-and-family truck helps, but buyers will still reward cleaner examples and better-equipped trims.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.18/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 earned a Good rating in crash-test safety, including a Good rating in the moderate front overlap crash test, and it earned a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including five-star ratings for frontal and side crashes and a four-star rollover rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sierra also offers optional lane-departure warning, front-collision alert, and active seat rumbling, plus a rear backup camera that is especially helpful in a tall truck like this. The safety content suggests these features are valuable because the cabin can be distracting, with lots of controls and connectivity features competing for attention. If you’re shopping used, make sure the truck you’re considering actually has the safety equipment you want, since some of it is optional.

Should I buy a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.18/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its smart interior, mature exterior, and three-powertrain flexibility.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $16,533, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $18,842 average.
• Redesigned for 2014, it is more powerful, more comfortable, and more technologically sophisticated.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping target, the 2015 is the stronger all-around pick because it combines a softened price, solid owner satisfaction, and a well-rounded feature set. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the value play, especially if you find one with a clean history and strong maintenance records.
