What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Fusion?

At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and interior wear. Because the accident-free share is not overwhelming, you’ll want to focus on whether any prior damage was repaired cleanly and whether the car drives straight and feels tight. It also helps to check that the cabin electronics and controls work properly, since some owners and experts have flagged usability concerns.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Fusion’s styling and equipment vary meaningfully by trim, and the more basic versions can feel less polished than better-equipped models.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes turbocharged four-cylinder choices, and the driving character is described as nimble and athletic, with AWD available on some versions for added traction.
• Safety package: Available features include a reversing camera, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
• Infotainment: The MyFord Touch system uses a display-based interface that can be distracting and frustrating to use, especially compared with simpler knob-and-button setups.
• Fuel efficiency: Real-world fuel economy is described as mediocre, so you should pay attention to how the car was used and maintained.

What is the 2015 Ford Fusion's resale value?

The current average of $8,232 sits slightly below last year's $8,520.

That softer pricing suggests the Fusion is still accessible on the used market, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. If you pay close to the low end of the range, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation exposure later. The model’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction also help support demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford Fusion safe?

The 2015 Ford Fusion earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, with an Acceptable grade in the small overlap frontal-impact test, and a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, though it also receives a three-star individual rating for driver protection in a side-impact collision.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford equips the Fusion with a useful set of safety features, including a reversing camera, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and inflatable rear seat belts. The main caveat is that the IIHS small-overlap result and the lower side-impact driver rating are worth keeping in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its stylish design and strong overall package, even with some fuel-economy and control drawbacks.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,682, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,232 average.
• It feels fresh and modern thanks to being just one year removed from a redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market mix of inventory, pricing, and owner satisfaction, the 2015 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the value-minded alternative.
